Lockhouse Farm Cottage is a wonderful holiday property in a peaceful location next to Dartmoor National Park. The beautifully converted barn is now a welcoming holiday home where up to five people can stay in two comfortable bedrooms. It is within walking distance of the centre of Dunsford and the Royal Oak Inn. As part of the Teign Valley, the cottage has access to miles of scenic walks from the door. The cottage is self-contained with its own enclosed garden and perfect for couples and families. It is also dog-friendly, with up to two well-behaved dogs welcome for no extra cost. Lockhouse Farm Cottage is available for bookings all year round, so you can escape to the beauty of Dartmoor whenever you choose.
Contrasting with Dartmoor's dramatic landscape of exposed moorland and granite tors, the Teign Valley is a gentle scene of rich green woodland set against the pale green fields that turn golden in late summer. The sheltered valley is protected on both sides and surprisingly narrow at the bottom, making it easy to navigate and explore. One of the area's most famous sights, the 19th Century Steps Bridge over the River Teign, is only a mile and a half from the cottage. You can park in the nearby National Trust car park or walk or cycle from the cottage. Other scenic spots to add to your sightseeing itinerary are the meadows and woodland of Parke near Bovey Tracey, and the walk between Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo. Having Dartmoor National Park on the doorstep means that you're never short of choice for places to walk or ride.
Local attractions include the House of Marbles and Canoteign Falls, both of which are only a short drive from the cottage. Teignmouth is a pretty seaside town around half an hour's drive from the cottage, with independent shops and cafes. Make good use of Exeter's free Red Coat tour guides to get under the skin of this ancient and fascinating city, which is far more than just its magnificent cathedral.
Whatever time of the year you stay at Lockhouse Farm Cottage, you'll always find it comfortable and welcoming.
