The Barn is one of three holiday cottages set on the western edge of the Dartmoor National Park. It is ideal for familes and can accommodate parties of up to six guests. The second holiday cottage at the same location, The Shippen (see separate advert), can accommodate parties of up to four and The Hemphouse (third cottage which is also advertised separately) sleeps five guests - when hired together, all three cottages can accommodate large groups of thirteen to fifteen guests - thus making it ideal for families or friends who want to holiday together whilst having a degree of privacy and personal space.
For reasonable prices, these cottages offer accommodation that is ideal for those who enjoy walking, hiking or horse riding (stabling is available should you wish to bring your own horse/s). Dartmoor is a magical location which provides beautiful countryside and wild rugged scenery - the perfect backdrop for a wide range of outdoor activities. The open moor at Cox Tor is just a ten minute walk up a 'no through' lane and from here you have access to miles of open moorland.
Tavistock (best market town 2004) is just three miles away and provides a good selection of interesting and essential shops, pubs, restaurants, local market, riverside park, leisure centre and theatre. There are many nearby pretty villages surrounding Devon and Eastern Cornwall and a variety of National Trust properties. Peter Tavy is the nearest of villages and has a church and a 15th Century inn serving good food.

Additional information: Lots of character including exposed oak beams. Central heating keeps the cottage warm in the winter months. Cooker, radiators, fridge, colour TV and DVD player. The first ninety units of electricity are provided within the rental price and then charged at cost (along with oil if used). Bed linen is included in the price. Towels can be hired (an additional charge applies) if required. Stair gates, cot and highchair also available upon request. Secluded cobbled yard with picnic table. Private certified water supply. Parking for 2 cars. Babysitting available upon request. Well-behaved dogs welcomed by arrangement. No smoking indoors, but smoking outside is acceptable. Internet access by arrangement.
Group Bookings: Large parties of up to fifteen can be accommodated when all three cottages are rented together. Ten guests are able to dine together in The Barn and hen and stag parties are accepted.
