Cottage Holidays in Dartmoor

Whether on foot, by bike or by horse, Dartmoor has an abundance of on and off-road routes to offer those in search of outdoor pursuits. Your exploration can be as challenging or as relaxed as you wish. Make your way to the Tors - stunning hills characterised by outcrops of bedrock, due to the granite-rich area. Be sure to look out for the pretty Dartmoor Ponies grazing in the rolling valleys along the way.

Venture to the many historical (and prehistoric) landmarks that make up this fascinating area, such as the 'Standing Stones' and the remnants of Bronze Age houses, now preserved as hut circles, many of which can be found at Grimspound.

If you want to stray from dry land and into the water, there are a variety of activities in the area. Kayakers and canoeists will enjoy some of the best mid-grade white water in the UK, gorge-scramblers and wild swimmers will also be able to explore Dartmoor from a different perspective.

Dartmoor is much loved for its tiny hamlets and pretty little villages with thatched cottages such as Moretonhampstead and Lustleigh. It also has its fair share of historic towns to visit including Chagford, Tavistock and Okehampton where you will find traditional shops with a warm welcome.

A stunning area with a long history and fascinating stories to tell, Dartmoor is an intriguing wilderness to discover.
