The Shippen is situated in an attractive hillside position with wonderful far reaching sea views over the River Taw estuary to Saunton Down and beyond to the hills of Exmoor. It is located at Huish Moor where the owners also offer Bed and Breakfast and it is ideally located just two and a half miles from Instow with its sandy beach, local shop, pubs and restaurant.

Originally a feeding barn, The Shippen has been converted to provide very comfortable self catering accommodation for up to seven guests. It has a spacious living area with wonderful views and provides accommodation of a high standard of both comfort and style.

For those who enjoy fishing, you are in for a real treat as Tim (the owner) is a passionate fly fisherman who offers a full guiding and tuition service for Salmon, Brown Trout and Sea Trout on the North Devon rivers. He specialises in night fishing forays for Sea Trout, providing one of the most exciting and challenging fishing experiences and can supply waders and tackle if required.

Huish Moor is in an ideal location to explore the many attractions that North Devon has to offer. The quaint seaside villages of Appledore and Instow and the old market towns of Barnstaple and Bideford (which still have farmers markets on given days) are nearby. There are stunning local beaches and beautiful high cliffed coves and miles of traffic free, safe cycle track on “The Tarka trail”.

Guests can enjoy golf and fishing locally and for the more adventurous there is Skern Lodge near Westward Ho! that provides a wide range of water sports and activities including surfing, canoeing, raft racing, abseiling and surf-skiing.

There are also a good number of gardens in the local area to visit including RHS Rosemoor, Docton Mill Gardens, Clovelly Court, Tapeley Park, Arlington Court, Marwood Hill and Hartland Abbey, all providing unique experiences. For those who want to venture a little further afield, an hour and a half away is the Eden Project.

The Exmoor National Park, with its wide expanses of rugged rolling moorland provides endless opportunities for those who enjoy walking and wildlife. The Tarka Trail also provides one hundred and eighty miles of walking and cycle path on a converted disused railway line, allow you to experience the real Devon and enjoy all its beauty.

For those who enjoy the sea and wildlife you can catch the Oldenburg to Lundy Island where you will have the opportunity to see Seals and possibly Puffins and Dolphins at the right time of year and enjoy an unspoilt environment.

For the children there are a number of adventure parks in the area including the Big Sheep and Milky Way.
