The Shepherd's Shed is everything you could dream of in a romantic North Devon holiday property. Built in the style of a traditional wooden shepherd's hut, it is beautifully decorated with a double bed and cosy furnishings to feel welcoming and comfortable in all seasons. In the summer, sit on the deck and drink in the peace of the tranquil location in the quiet village of Landkey, while in winter, you can snuggle up to the warmth of the log burner. There is a wood-fired outdoor hot tub for relaxing after exploring the North Devon coast and the stunning Exmoor landscape. The cottage is tucked away in a private corner in the grounds of Accott Manor and is within walking distance of the village shop, tea room, and the highly regarded Castle Inn pub.
Landkey is less than three miles from Barnstaple, where there is a wide array of amenities that include a modern shopping centre and the heritage Victorian indoor Pannier Market. Barnstaple also has an excellent local museum, a cinema and a theatre, so it's ideal if you want to go out for a relaxed meal and a movie. Barnstaple is the Tarka Trail's centre point, a 180-mile route suitable for walking and cycling. The north loop goes along the coast at Woolacombe and Ilfracombe to Lynton and back through Exmoor. In contrast, the longer southern loop passes through spectacular countryside and past places like Great Torrington and Okehampton before reaching Dartmoor.
Local attractions include beautiful beaches like Braunton Burrows and Instow, both only a few miles from The Shepherd's Shed. You can drive to Woolacombe, Saunton, Westward Ho! and Croyde in around half an hour, giving you even more stunning coastline to enjoy with beaches for swimming, surfing, beach fishing, or simply settling down in the sunshine. Days out can include visiting the charming village of Appledore and browsing the shops in Bideford and Ilfracombe before taking a boat trip to Lundy Island, around two hours off the coast of the mainland. Lynton and Lynmouth are two more picturesque places to see, with a Victorian water-powered funicular railway connecting the two places since 1888.
Its name implies something rough-and-ready, but The Shepherd's Shed is anything but rustic. The stylish interior and clever space-saving design mean that you'll feel wonderfully comfortable and welcome in every season.
