The Byre sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms and is a welcoming holiday retreat perfect for families and friends that offers a lovely blend of country charm and contemporary style.
Sitting on the outskirts of Exmoor National Park in the Devonshire village of Goodleigh, The Byre is just a short drive from Barnstaple, the principle town of Devon and an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions of Exmoor and the stunning coastline and countryside of Devon.
Goodleigh is small in size and dotted with attractive old houses which accentuate the historic charm of the village. It has a historic 'gothic' church and village pub (The New Inn) which offers a warm welcome to adults and children alike and serves a good pint of ale and lovely food, so perfect for those who prefer to eat out whilst away.
Sitting in a picturesque setting, there are plenty of lovely walks and cycle rides along leafy country lanes which are a picture in the warmer months when the hedgerows are ablaze with wildflowers. Whatever the time of year, this beautiful part of North Devon is a pleasure to visit. When the weather is sunny head to the coast and enjoy long lazy days on the glorious golden sands (just twenty minutes away by car); or when it's cooler explore the coastal paths and soak up the spectacular seascape. Exmoor is magical all year round, as is Tarka Country, bother offering an abundance of wildlife, outdoor pursuits pretty villages to discover and attractions.
Spend the day visiting Lynmouth with its lovely harbour then take the cliff railway (dog-friendly) over to Lynton and enjoy a Devonshire Cream tea. The seaside resort of Ilfracombe is every bit as popular today as it was in Victorian times and has lost little of its charm over the years with its buzzy harbour, lovely shops to browse and great place to enjoy a meal out. Whilst there visit the aquarium, Tunnels beaches or head over to Lundy Island by boat to see the puffins (keep your eye out for seals on the way!). For those who enjoy the thrill of the surf, head to Woolacombe with its vast golden beach, Croyde or Saunton - all popular destinations.
Barnstaple is just three miles away and is an attractive bustling market town with a great range of shops, places for a meal out and its historic panier market. Bideford is also within easy driving distance, also offering good shopping opportunities, as is Appledore with its lovely galleries and craft shops to browse.
Clovelly, Great Torrington, Westward Ho!... the list of places to visit goes on and on! Whether you're staying for two weeks or just a few nights, The Byre offers the perfect setting for doing as much or as little as your heart desires.
