Pirate's Berth sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is a cosy self catering apartment that is tucked away in an excellent central location in the very heart of Whitby. Sitting in one of the narrow cobbled alleys (St Ann’s Lane) within the town, Pirate's Berth provides a welcoming retreat to return back to after a day exploring this glorious area. Whether you are a couple looking for a romantic break or a family seeking a seaside retreat, Pirate's Berth is an ideal choice.
The apartment is well located for exploring the many delights of the historic sea port of Whitby, famed for its strong connections with Captain James Cook, one of the great explorers. Just a few footsteps from the front door of Pirate's Berth is the colourful harbour with the famous abbey ruins providing a stunning backdrop. The beach is also nearby and is just a three minute walk from the apartment along the harbour front. A trip to St Mary's Church will reward you with stunning views and legends of Count Dracula who is said to lay resting at the church. Alternatively, for more spooky fun take a Ghost Walk around Whitby if you are feeling brave! The West Cliff has something to offer all ages from a paddling pool for toddlers to an eighteen hole golf course overlooking the sea and a theatre for those looking for something a little more relaxing.
With three miles of white sandy beach, Whitby has much to offer beach lovers, along with train enthusiasts being the home to the North York Moors Steam Railway - why not take a leisurely journey through the North York Moors and visit the popular villages of Goathland and Grosmont made famous by Heartbeat. Stay a bit closer to home and visit the Captain Cook Museum, the Abbey Visitor Centre and the Whitby Museum where you can walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs. Fishing is another popular pursuit locally and for those who enjoy sea fishing, you can hire a boat for a day fishing on the North Sea or if you want to keep your feet firmly on land, try your luck and fish off the pier.
The local visitors centre in Whitby provides plenty of useful information to help you plan your holiday including information on the many local events that run throughout the year including Regatta Week and the Folk Week. You will also find information on the many attractions in the surrounding area including Staithes, Dalby Forest, Scarborough, Pickering, Robin Hood's Bay and Helmsley Castle to name just a few.
The beautiful Yorkshire countryside that surrounds, offers superb opportunities for outdoor activities. Whether you want the wilderness of the moors or the rugged beauty of the coastal paths, the scenery is simply stunning.
