About The Hayloft at Flamborough Rigg

The Hayloft at Flamborough Rigg offers a luxury 5-Star Gold standard of accommodation in the North York Moors National Park. With views of nearby Cropton Forest, there is room for four guests to stay in two bedrooms making it perfect for couples and families who want somewhere to stay which is extremely comfortable but also has character. The charming cottage is in the peaceful hamlet of Stape, at the end of a quiet road with no passing traffic.

Pickering is around eight miles south of The Hayloft, or an easy 15-minute drive. The market town is an excellent place to stock up on provisions, especially if you go on Monday market day and there are several popular pubs and cafes happy to serve you if you don't feel like cooking yourself. Pickering Castle, the Beck Isle Museum and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are other fantastic attractions in Pickering.

Cropton and Dalby Forests are wonderful places to walk, bird watch and ride a bike. Parts of Dalby were used as the setting for the Forbidden Forest in the Harry Potter films, and you can feel the magic as you walk past towering trunks and through quiet glades. You'll also find a Go Ape adventure and a useful visitor centre where friendly staff will do their best to help you get the most fun from your time in the area.

Spend a day or two exploring the magnificent stretch of coast that is part of the National Park. Sandsend is particularly lovely, with its dog friendly beach but you may also want to visit the famous seaside resort town of Whitby, working off a seafood lunch by climbing the 199 steps to the impressive cliff top ruins of Whitby Abbey.

Thousands of years of human habitation has created the landscape of the North York Moors, filling you with a sense that although you are just visiting, you are still leaving your own indelible mark behind. There are 842 Scheduled Monuments and over 3,000 listed buildings within the borders of the National Park. If that is not enough, then you can happily spend a day or two exploring the ancient City of York with its magnificent Minster, Viking Centre, National Railway Museum, fantastic shops, cafes and restaurants.

Other attractions within easy reach of The Hayloft include Castle Howard, the market town of Helmsley, the Walled Gardens at Scampston and the pretty little villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Thornton le Dale.

The owners of The Hayloft have taken immense care to ensure their guests have a comfortable stay, which is one reason they get so many repeat bookings. Whether you are a couple having a romantic holiday in Yorkshire, a family, or friends, you can be confident of a warm Yorkshire welcome.
