The Fold Yard at Cornborough is a beautifully restored former farm building that combines traditional features with modern conveniences to create a homely self-catering holiday cottage. The cottage is managed, cleaned and looked after entirely by the owners Jose and Chris, ensuring that guests receive a warm, friendly and personal service during their stay.
Full of rustic charm and character and with its own private cobbled courtyard, the cottage comfortably sleeps four people in two bedrooms both with en-suite facilities. This makes it the perfect space for couples, families, or friends to relax and visit the many sights and attractions that bring visitors to North Yorkshire all year round.
The cottage is set in a quiet, rural location yet is only 1.5 miles from the charming village of Sheriff Hutton. In addition to a well-stocked village shop, where you can purchase all your essentials including locally baked bread and pies, the village has a friendly pub that serves food as well as a specialist wine merchant. Quarmby’s, a quality delicatessen, serves tea, coffee, local produce and freshly baked cakes, while the village hall hosts a farmers’ market on the third Sunday of every month. For those interested in history, the ruins of Sheriff Hutton Castle, often frequented by Richard III in its heyday, overlooks the village and the tomb of his oldest son, Edward, lies in the village church of St Helen and the Holy Cross.
You will never run short of ideas for full days of fun and adventure. The Howardian Hills are nearby, with miles of routes for walking and cycling and beautiful views in every season. Arguably the jewel in the Crown of this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is Castle Howard, with its magnificent stately home and thousand-acre estate where you can walk, admire the arboretum and manicured gardens, or view the superb art collections inside this historic house. The cottage is centrally located for visiting traditional market towns such as Malton (Yorkshire’s Food Capital) picturesque Helmsley and the region’s award winning eateries. The ancient city of York is only 12 miles and 30 minutes’ drive from the cottage, offering everything from Roman and Viking artefacts, to the stunning Minster, medieval shopping streets and a wealth of places to eat and drink.
Within just an hour’s drive you can enjoy a wonderful day out visiting the ruggedly beautiful North York Moors National Park, the scenic North Yorkshire Heritage coast, which includes Whitby and the charming fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, as well as the Victorian spa town of Harrogate and the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Gardens.
