Seaweed is a fresh, modern holiday cottage in the pretty village of Combe Martin on the beautiful North Devon coast. It sleeps up to six people in three spacious bedrooms and has recently been refurbished throughout. The layout is ideal for families and friends, although with a downstairs bedroom it is suitable for couples as well. The beach, village shop and friendly Dolphin Inn are all within walking distance - a bonus for visitors who want to spend as much time on the beach and as little time in the car as possible.
Combe Martin couldn't be a better choice for a holiday by the seaside. The rugged coastline is right on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, with an award-winning beach that is ideal not only for swimming but also for paddle boarding and kayaking. Towering cliffs - some of the highest in the UK - sheltered coves and rock pools make it more than a pretty stretch of sand, and a walk along the South West Coastal Path is a fantastic way to get your bearings and enjoy the panoramic views. The village boasts a two-mile-long High Street lined with shops, cafes, welcoming pubs and other local amenities that make it ideal for a self-catering holiday.
Walkers should try the five-mile Great Hangman Loop, climb Holdstone Hill, or walk through the beautiful countryside to nearby Martinhoe. The walk along the coastal footpath to Lynton takes in sights such as Heddon's Mouth, Woody Bay Beach, and the Valley of Rocks. Devon has an excellent variety of mountain bike trails that cover a variety of terrain, while the nearby Tarka Trail is mainly traffic-free and good for walking or cycling. The vast expanse of Exmoor is on the doorstep, with places to go rock climbing, quad biking and horse riding. Golfers are also catered for at one of a dozen courses within an hour's radius of the cottage.
Local attractions include the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, the Combe Martin Silver Mine, Exmoor Zoo, the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, Watermouth Castle, and the aquarium at Ilfracombe. Spend a relaxed few hours shopping in Barnstaple where there is a great choice of shops as well as the Victorian Pannier Market. Take the Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway, or admire the beautiful house and gardens at Arlington Court. The choices are plentiful!
