Swereview Cottage is so pretty that you will not be able to wait to get there. Crafted from the same Hornton Ironstone that has been used to build houses locally for centuries, it sits in a private garden on the edge of the friendly village of Swerford. There is easily enough room for four guests to stay in two bedrooms, and the cottage is a good choice for those with limited mobility, small families and especially couples who appreciate that the excellent Boxing Hare pub and restaurant is within walking distance.
The beauty of Swerford - apart from the dark honey stone buildings, flowing River Swere, Bailey Castle and St Mary's medieval church - is how close it is to everything while still feeling delightfully rural and remote. Chipping Norton is only four miles away, and it is easy to drive to places like Banbury, Blenheim Palace, Oxford and Stratford Upon Avon. It is the perfect place to stay whether you like the vibrancy and bustle of towns and cities, or prefer nothing more than to lace up your boots, grab your trekking poles and stride off into the countryside where you may not encounter another soul for miles. There are lovely walks starting from the front door, allowing you to explore the Cotswolds countryside by foot.
Chipping Norton is one of the most visited towns in the Cotswolds yet remains refreshingly un-touristy. It has excellent shops, cafes and pubs, and an interesting local museum. St Mary’s Church is a particularly lovely example of its type and reflects the market town's importance in England’s Tudor wool industry. Being the highest town in Oxfordshire means the walks around Chipping Norton, although challenging at times, offer fantastic views. A popular destination for walkers is the Rollright Stones, a stone circle believed to date back 5,000 years, which can also be reached by car. Swerford is also close to the Hook Norton Brewery, Rye Hill Golf Club and Tadmarton Heath Golf Club.
Magnificent Blenheim Palace, Chaselton House and Edgehill are all within ten miles, while Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are an easy drive through the scenic countryside, as are Upper and Lower Slaughter. Swereview Cottage is perfect for visitors who appreciate comfort and beauty and want access to the best sights of the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire.
