The cottage is situated on a quiet, leafy lane just a short walk from the amenities of the Cotswold town of Tetbury. It is a comfortable and cosy space ideal for a relaxing getaway. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the Cotswolds, the cottage faces out onto open countryside. There is birdsong all day long, and we frequently see the local wildlife, in particular rabbits, deer and foxes. Guests will enjoy views to one side over the owners’ paddock and to the other side is sloping woodland leading from Tetbury towards the Estcourt Estate. We offer a large outdoor space for adults and children alike to run and play or sit and relax.
Accommodation - The cottage has underfloor heating throughout. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room, and a generous open-plan dining, kitchen and living area. The cottage is bright and airy with plenty of windows, all with countryside views.
The larger bedroom has two single beds and is next to the shower room and w.c. There is room for a travel cot in this room (not provided). The smaller bedroom has a double bunk bed and en-suite with bath, sink and w.c. An extra chair bed can be made up in the living room (an extra linen charge applies). The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge with small freezer compartment, a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and kettle.
Outside - There is a large private parking area to the side and a patio to the rear. A seasonal tributary of the Tetbury Avon borders one side of the property. It normally flows in spring, autumn and winter but in heavy rain can flow in summer also. Throughout the year there is a drop from wall in front of the cottage into the stream bed. For this reason, we would ask that children are supervised at all times.
Things to Do - There are several lovely walks starting literally on the doorstep. In town, there is a traditional market every Wednesday and Saturday and lots of shops and places to eat. There are several antiques shops ad galleries to explore, a lovely bookshop, the renowned Highgrove shop, two wine shops, clothes shops and many other unique independent stores. We have several really good coffee shops, pubs and restaurants, there is something to suit all tastes. All are within walking distance. Very close by is the Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre which has a full calendar of live music, art, theatre, comedy and so much more (their café is worth several visits!). Further afield, there is the historic town of Malmesbury with its ancient abbey just a short drive away. We also have Highgrove Gardens, Beaufort Polo Club and Westonbirt Arboretum just 3-4 miles away. There are also many lovely villages to explore and the award winning towns of Nailsworth, Stroud and Cirencester are all within 10-20 minute drives. Throughout the year there are many wonderful local events such as the Badminton Horse Trials, the WOMAD festival, our own Tetfest, and throughout summer there are local fetes most weekends. For water lovers, or if you just fancy lunch by a lake, the Cotswold Waterpark offers a huge range of activities such as a lakeside beach, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, and open water swimming. There is so much to list locally, I am happy to give personalised recommendations for any guests.
Essentials - Within the town there is a butcher, a couple of delis and bakeries, two wine shops, a Co-Op, a supermarket and several take outs. There are lots of places to eat out but it is also very easy to eat in.
Please Note - The lane is access only so vehicles are restricted. Please note that there is a water treatment works at the very end of the lane, you may see occasional vehicles but any odours are extremely rare.
There is a zip wire located in the paddock but it is under construction and not included in the rental at this time.
The property is strictly non-smoking and we do not allow dogs.
You are welcome to arrive from 1600 and ask that you depart by 1000. Early check-in is sometimes available so please ask if it would be useful.
