About Dove Cottage

Since the earliest records began in the 13th Century, The Llanfendigaid Estate in the Snowdonia National Park has been under ownership by the Nanney-Wynn family and their ancestors. The original estate once stretched from Harlech in the North, along the Welsh coastline to Aberystwyth in the South but since the 1920s and the collapse of many British estates, the size of Llanfendigaid Estate has reduced to a much smaller area of the National Park and now occupies one of the most beautiful stretches of Welsh coastline.

William Nanney-Wynn Garton-Jones is the current owner who operates the main house and surrounding cottages on the estate as distinctive high quality self-catering holiday homes. Here guests can enjoy access to the secluded sand and shingle beach, the indoor heated swimming pool and experience a true Welsh experience.

Llanfendigaid (translating to "Parish of the Blessed") affords an exceptional position on the coastal path at the southern end of Snowdonia's spectacular National Park, close to the famous Cader Idris mountain, with the sea just half a mile away.

Dove Cottage sits within 3-acres of shared grounds nestling amongst some three hundred acres of farmland. A stunning location where you can escape away amongst peace and tranquility with beautiful views.

For those who can tear themselves away from the magnificent surrounds, there are plenty of attractions to visit within easy reach of the estate. The small seaside village of Aberdovey (or Aberdyfi as it is more commonly referred to in Wales), sitting on the Dyfi Estuary, is seven miles away with its famous links golf course, sandy beaches that stretches some five miles long and excellent watersports including sailing. For those who enjoy horse riding, pony trekking is available in nearby Arthog. Take a trip on the Talyllyn Railway or the Fairbourne Railway for a leisurely way of enjoying the scenery or visit the Centre of Alternative Technology at Machynlleth.

A trip to Wales would not be complete without visiting a castle and there are plenty to choose from with the remains of Castell-y-Bere just five miles away and spectacular Harlech Castle a little further.
