Rose Cottage is a charming Peak District holiday home. The three-bedroom end-of-terrace cottage sleeps five people in three bedrooms, with accommodation over three levels and a layout that suits couples or families. It is in the historic market town of Ashbourne, within walking distance of cafes, shops, a park, and the friendly George and the Dragon pub.
Situated right next to the Tissington Trail, Rose Cottage is ideally located for keen walkers and cyclists. The majority of the 13-mile route runs alongside the old Ashborn-Buxton railway line which boosts beautiful views of the Derbyshire Dales. You will also pass through Tissington village where you will find 40 acres of woodland surrounding Tissington Hall. The Tissington Trail links up with the Pennine Bridleway and the fantastic High Peak Trail, opening up miles of the spectacular countryside for your enjoyment. Bike hire is available locally, and there are riding stables nearby providing guided rides through this amazing landscape. Ashbourne is perfect for a holiday in any season. Not only is it close to excellent footpaths and cycling routes, but it is also within easy reach of Carsington Water, and only a few miles south of the Peak District National Park, so there is a wide choice of activities to suit everyone.
Everything you need for a stress-free self-catering holiday is within walking distance of Rose Cottage. Ashbourne is a pretty town with winding lanes and more than 200 listed buildings that include The Greenman pub on St John Street and St Oswald's Church with its impressive 212-foot tall spire. Ashbourne received its market charter in 1257 and has a regular market every Thursday. The town has a great choice of tea shops and cafes, independent shops and locally-owned businesses that give it a unique and welcoming atmosphere.
Days out can include wandering around Chatsworth's magnificent house and gardens, admiring the beauty of Hardwick Hall, or visiting other stately homes like Kedleston Hall, Norbury Manor and Sudbury Hall. Alton Towers is only 10 miles away and Gulliver's Kingdom also offers lots of scope for fun and adventure. You can also explore Peak District towns and villages such as Eyam, famous for its residents' self-sacrifice during the 1665 outbreak of Plague, Buxton and Bakewell.
Rose Cottage is available for bookings all year round, so there's no reason not to book your next holiday.
