Allmore Cottage is in a peaceful countryside location with fantastic views in the small hamlet of Gratton and close to the Peak District National Park. The pet-friendly cottage is on Hallmoor Meadows Farm and surrounded by private gardens, fields and meadows, with a stream and a well-stocked pond so that guests can enjoy onsite coarse fishing. The owners have created a romantic haven for couples that is well deserving of its 4-Star Gold status awarded by Visit England.
Gratton is a tiny hamlet in beautiful surroundings, four miles from the market town of Leek in Staffordshire where you can find shops, pubs and other amenities. The cottage is within easy reach of both the lakeside village of Rudyard and Tittesworth Reservoirs in the Staffordshire Moorlands, as well as Biddulph Grange Garden and Little Moreton Hall, both National Trust properties. Leek is the perfect place to spend a leisurely few hours browsing antique and specialist shops, or head further afield and visit the market town of Ashbourne with its cobbled streets or the Georgian grandeur of the spa town of Buxton - both within driving distance of the cottage. The Churnet Steam Valley Railway allows visitors to see the beauty of the area in a relaxed fashion or spend your holiday days strolling along the Cauldon, Trent and Mersey canals. Slightly further afield but a good choice for a day trip out, Chatsworth House is one of the most visited attractions in the area and definitely worth adding to your itinerary, as are Haddon Hall and the Heights of Abraham.
Being outdoors in any season is a pleasure around Allmore Cottage. In addition to the 14 acres of grounds at Hallmoor Meadows Farm, there are excellent opportunities for walkers, cyclists, climbers and those who enjoy playing around on water with the dramatic beauty of The Roaches, Tittesworth Reservoir, Rudyard Lake and the picturesque valley of Dovedale close by.
Gratton sits at the junction of three counties so not only are the delights of the Peak District on your doorstep, but you can also explore Cheshire and Staffordshire as well, cycling past silk mills and visiting historic potteries and National Trust houses and gardens before getting your thrills on the rides at Alton Towers.
However you choose to spend your holiday, whether it's birdwatching and antiquing, shopping and sightseeing, or mountain biking and hiking, the high standard of accommodation at Allmore Cottage will make returning each evening and starting each day a pleasure.
