About Hillside Croft

Hillside Croft is a beautiful, large self-catering holiday cottage situated in the picturesque Derbyshire Dales close to Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Nestled in secluded, flower-filled gardens, and close to the historic Peak District National Park and the Staffordshire Moorlands, Hillside Croft is the perfect location for entertaining, adventure holidays or just relaxing.

The cottage easily sleeps 10-14 people, with four double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, and four single beds among these rooms, giving total sleeping for up to 14. In addition, there are also two single bed-chairs, providing maximum sleeping for 16.

A distinctive, beautifully renovated, 18th-century original stone cottage, Hillside Croft showcases characterful stone, leaded windows, exposed oak beams, and revealed stonework and timber throughout. Matching furnishings, central heating, and log stoves downstairs make for a notably warm, inviting atmosphere, while bespoke, antique pine furniture, and a mix of oak, tiled and old-stone floors and rugs add extra appeal.

This delightful country cottage is enclosed by quiet, landscaped nature gardens – including a well-fenced nature pond – and verdant pastureland. Close to nature and bursting with birds and wildlife, the wider area and its footpaths are great to explore and wander!

Numerous activities are available in the surrounding area, including water sports, golf, cycling, riding, orienteering, caving and climbing, paintballing, archery and clay pigeon shooting, and quad biking.

Nearby places of interest in and nearby the Peak District and the Staffordshire Moors include:

  • Market towns: Ashbourne, Belper, Matlock and Matlock Bath, Bakewell, and Buxton;

Living:

  • A fully-kitted, homely farmhouse kitchen forms the heart of the property, consisting of handmade, antique-pine kitchen units, stone surfaces, a double pottery sink and tiled flooring. The kitchen is equipped with: a full halogen cooker and electric double oven, slow cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and a second fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble drier. Looking out onto the secluded rear garden, with fruit trees, blackcurrants and various herbs planted for your culinary use, it is perfect for hosting large groups of friends and family!
  • An adjacent dining room comfortably seats 10-12 at its wide farmhouse table, with additional seating for up to 16 people. With a log burner tucked inside an attractive inglenook fireplace on one side, and all the crockery you might need, it is the ideal space for eating, drinking and entertaining!
  • A lounge area is across the main entrance from the dining room, snugly seating 10 on three sofas and one comfortable chair. The lounge comes with a packed bookcase, a HDTV and Freeview, and a DVD player – great for when you want to put your feet up!
  • A well-equipped, spacious master bathroom concludes the arrangement, with a large roll-topped, ceramic bath and shower and separate walk-in power shower, a wash basin with shaving sockets, and a WC. A WC platform and a potty are provided for children.

Sleeping:

  • An en-suite master bedroom, with a power shower, a WC, and a wash basin with shaving sockets, an LCD TV, and a quality, single bed-chair;
  • A twin bedroom, with a quality, single bed-chair;
  • A double bedroom, with one low single-bed;
  • A double bedroom, with an LCD TV and one low single-bed;
  • A double bedroom, with two low single-beds.

Outside:

  • A private patio area with a hardwood table and chairs, a barbeque, a chimenea and a hot tub – wonderful for both socialising and soaking up the sun!
  • An off-road, large, private parking area is readily accessible to the side of the property.

Additional information: Meals and pampering can be arranged. All electricity, heating, linen and towels are included within the price. Initial logs are provided between the months of November and March. Further logs can be provided at cost within these dates. There is Wi-Fi internet access in all rooms.
