Combine the charm of a classic Victorian seaside town with modern attractions in the vibrant town of Cromer. Sitting just 40 minutes from Norwich this old fishing port is well known for it’s for its wide open beaches, a traditional pier, and fantastic Cromer crab sandwiches. The cliff top gardens at North Lodge Park offer stunning sea views and a quieter spot away from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront. With plenty of independent shops and art galleries to browse, as well as and cafes and restaurants to refuel, it is a great spot to visit at any time of the year.
From Cromer if you head due west for an hour you will reach the popular seaside town of Hunstanton, the only west-facing resort on the east coast of England making it a great place to watch the spectacular sunsets over The Wash. The main beach has a promenade with arcades, a bowling alley, funfair rides and a SEA LIFE centre, making it a great spot for family friendly holidays by the sea.
Head in the opposite direction from Cromer and you will reach Great Yarmouth, otherwise known as the ‘Golden Mile’ of attractions. As well as it’s long sandy beaches you will find a huge number of attractions including a large amusement park, Hippodrome Circus, piers and arcades, SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth and Merrivale Model Village.
If you are looking for something a little quieter and off the beaten track there are plenty of beautiful spots to choose from. Holkham has a huge unspoiled golden sandy beach backed by pine woods and a National Nature Reserve. Due to it’s size it rarely feels crowded and is perfect for long, peaceful walks. Waxham beach, Thornham beach and Cart Gap are all a little more off the beaten track and great if you are looking for something a little more secluded.
With a choice of bustling seaside resorts, or quiet secluded stretches of golden sands, it’s hard to beat Norfolk for a British holiday by the sea.
