Living
Forgetmenot Cottage sits tucked away in Wells-next-the-Sea, where you get proper seaside living without the tourist crush. This flexible holiday cottage sleeps either two for intimate breaks or opens up to accommodate eight guests over two floors - brilliant for when couples want a romantic escape or families need space for everyone. The light-filled rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and private garden create a peaceful sanctuary, while the wood burner and stylish furnishings make it feel instantly homely. The Globe Inn and The Crown are both within easy walking distance for evenings when you fancy a pint and proper pub food.
Wells-next-the-Sea is a North Norfolk gem with a warmly authentic character that welcomes visitors. The working harbour still brings in fishing boats, and you'll love buying succulently fresh crab and lobster straight off the quay. The town centre clusters around the lovely Georgian square known as The Buttlands, lined with independent shops, galleries, and cafes that feel genuinely local rather than touristy. The famous beach is about a mile from town - that iconic walk past the colourful beach huts and through the pine woods has become a Wells tradition. The beach itself stretches for miles with proper golden sand and those brilliant beach huts that photograph beautifully. Back in town, there's a little cinema, cultural centre, and enough good restaurants to keep foodies happy for a week.
The North Norfolk coast unfolds beautifully from here. Holkham Hall and its magnificent Palladian architecture sits just down the road, with those sweeping parkland views and deer wandering about. Holkham Beach is often voted one of Britain's best - that vast expanse of sand backed by pine woods feels almost Caribbean on sunny days. Blakeney Point's seal colony is unmissable, and the boat trips out to see pups on the sandbanks are magical, especially with kids. The Georgian town of Holt is close by for boutique shopping and artisan food, while Burnham Market (known locally as Chelsea-on-Sea) has galleries and smart delis. The Norfolk Coast Path runs right through Wells if you're after serious walking, and the bird watching around here is world-class with reserves at Cley and Titchwell. Sandringham Estate is within reach for royal history, and the market town of Fakenham has proper Norfolk character. This holiday home in Wells-next-the-Sea puts you right at the heart of Norfolk's most beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, seal colonies, and Georgian charm all on your doorstep.
