Gidley Retreat is ideal for families looking for a comfortable home-away-from-home in North Norfolk. There's space for six people to sleep in three bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor. The house is on a quiet residential street in Cheney Hill, close to fields and only a 15-minute walk from the beach at Heacham. It's the perfect base from which to explore North Norfolk's coastline and countryside whether you want to sun yourself on the seaside, cycle along country lanes, or enjoy days of shopping, sightseeing and eating out.
In addition to its beach, Heacham is best known for its lavender production. Norfolk Lavender has been successfully growing lavender here for almost 100 years, and a walk through the fields in summer is a memorable must-do. The beach faces The Wash, where the estuary is a haven for birds and wildlife. Take your binoculars and go bird spotting at RSPB reserves at Snettisham or Titchwell Marsh, especially during spring and autumn when migrating birds stop to rest. Heacham's two beaches are shallow and sheltered, making them a favourite for swimming. Three miles north, the seaside resort of Old Hunstanton has a long Victorian esplanade, a playground and crazy golf course, and traditional seaside entertainments like amusement arcades and a sealife centre.
Kings Lynn is around 20 minutes from the cottage. It's a lively market town with excellent amenities and a great choice of places to eat, drink and shop. You can sense the town's history as you walk along its lanes, beside the River Ouse, and past the port that was one of the busiest in medieval England. There's plenty here to keep you busy on a rainy day, including museums, National Trust and English Heritage buildings, and an impressive Minster. Other places for a day trip include Wells-next-the-Sea, Brancaster, Burnham Market, and Holkham. The Royal Sandringham Estate is only seven miles from the cottage. The house and formal gardens are open in spring and summer, but the 243-acre Royal Park is open for walking and cycling for most of the year.
As stunning as it is between May and September, the North Norfolk coast is more than just a summer holiday destination. It's natural landscape, historical towns and villages, and excellent amenities and attractions make it somewhere visitors love to be all year round.

Outside: The cottage has off-street parking at the front of the house for at least two cars. The enclosed rear garden is mainly lawn and suitable for children (some garden toys are provided).
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Guests to bring beach towels if they are required. Short breaks are possible outside of peak season. Pets and smoking are not permitted. High chair and bed guard available.
