About The Old Piggery

The Old Piggery is a modern holiday cottage on a working farm in Goodleigh near Barnstaple. The owners have transformed this barn into a light, spacious and welcoming self-catering property with space for six people to sleep in three bedrooms. The ground floor ensuite bedroom has discrete accessible features to make it comfortable for guests who use a wheelchair or a walker. As well as the beautifully furnished interior, guests have an enclosed garden with rural views and are within walking distance of the New Inn village pub and Coombe Woods. It's a great choice for families and friends.

Goodleigh has an authentic community atmosphere. The family-run village pub serves good food. You're within driving or cycling distance from Barnstaple's excellent shops and the Victorian Pannier Market, which is open six days a week. Barnstaple is an economic hub for the region with a busy High Street, a choice of great places to eat and drink, a theatre, a museum, a cinema, and ten-pin bowling. A walk to the ruins of the Norman castle (and Saxon graveyard) affords excellent views over the town and the River Taw. There is a bike hire shop at the train station to make it simple for everyone to enjoy the fantastic Tarka Trail.

North Devon's spectacular coastline is around a 20-minute drive from The Old Piggery. Why limit yourself to one beach when you can walk through a tunnel to the sandy beach and Victorian tidal pool at Tunnels Beach, build castles in the soft sand at Instow and discover the secret of sheltered Rapparee Cove. Croyde and Woolacombe are great for surfing, the latter having a four-mile expanse of sandy shoreline. Saunton's dunes are a lovely spot in all seasons. The South West Coast Path links all these beaches and gives walkers spectacular views.

Day trips can include Appledore, Hartland, Lundy Island, and Clovelly. The Victorian cliff railway has been transferring passengers between Lynton and Lynmouth for over 120 years and showcases simple engineering at its best. Exmoor is also within easy reach with a wealth of delights to discover and enjoy.
