About Plas Mynach

Enjoying a spectacular position overlooking the sea, this magnificent Grade II listed holiday home sits in one of the most desirable coastal towns in Wales within the Snowdonia National Park. Ideally placed on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Barmouth, Plas Mynach is just a mile from the heart of the town and ten minutes walk from the glorious sandy Blue Flag beach, shops and the train station, making it accessible by car and public transport.

The property is steeped in history and has an interesting past, being formerly owned by the Perrins (makers of Lea & Perrins sauce!) who enjoyed their family holidays at Plas Mynach. Whilst its first impression is one of grandeur, Plas Mynach is immediately welcoming with relaxed accommodation that ensures a comfortable stay. Rooms are spacious and well equipped with everything needed to relax and unwind, complemented by glorious sea and mountain views that are sure to impress. Sitting in wooded grounds, Plas Mynach offers guests complete privacy and the opportunity to escape away with friends or family.

With four bedrooms (one on the ground floor), a big kitchen with dining, double reception room with plenty of space for both formal dining and relaxing (complemented by sea views!), space to relax outside during the warmer months and pubs, shops and a beach within walking distance, you and your party are sure to talk about your holiday at Plas Mynach in Barmouth for many years to come.

Sitting at the head of the Mawddach Estuary, Barmouth looks out onto Cardigan Bay providing stunning views. Small but perfectly formed, this pretty Welsh seaside town has a glorious sandy beach, pretty harbour and good choice of pubs and restaurants for meals out. There are lots of events and festivals taking place throughout the summer months adding to the atmosphere, as well as plenty to keep outdoor enthusiasts occupied with wonderful coastal walks, excellent opportunities for mountain bikers, golf, fishing, horse riding and white water fun for those seeking adrenaline activities.

Nestling at the heart of Snowdonia's magnificent National Park, there are plenty of attractions for day trips out. Head further round the coast and visit the castles at Caernarfon and the World Heritage Site of Harlech; the Italianate coastal village of Portmierion; and Porthmadog where you can take a ride on the Ffestiniog steam railway and visit the Glaslyn RSPB Reserve to see the Osprey. Alternatively, head inland and explore Blaenau Ffestiniog, home to Bounce Below (a great wet weather attraction) and Zip World or tackle Snowdon.

Accommodation Comprises:

Ground Floor

  • Impressive wood panelled entrance hall with bureau and chairs set around an open fire as well as a flat screen television - a nice place to enjoy a quiet moment with a good book in front of the flickering flames.
  • Large reception room with sea views which is open-plan with two distinct areas for relaxing and dining. The dining area is great for special celebratory meals with everyone around one table. At the other end is a sitting area with comfy seating arranged around another open fire - the perfect place to retire with your favourite tipple after dinner. This room has access into the garden and is an incredibly social space.
  • Kitchen which is also large and full of character with long dining table plus an additional smaller table for preparation or children's supper. Free-standing units house everything needed for self-catering and a warming cream four oven gas Aga adds to the charm of the country kitchen.
  • Scullery adjoining the kitchen with a combi microwave, induction hob, electric oven and dishwasher.
  • Ground floor twin bedroom with en-suite shower room which is ideal for those who prefer to not climb the stairs.
  • Cloak room with WC.

First floor

  • At the top of the staircase is a galleried landing area. There is seating on the landing and a cloak room with WC.
  • Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
  • Kingsize bedroom with adjorning shower room.
  • Twin bedroom.

Additional accommodation

  • Tower flat is nicely tucked away at the top of the 'castle' tower and provides self-contained accommodation for an additional couple who appreciate having their own personal space. This has a double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and sitting areas, as well as a sun-trap terrace providing a lovely private place to relax amongst the mountain and sea views. An additional charge of £150 per night applies for those wishing to use of the Tower Flat.

Additional information: Strictly no smoking in the property. Two travel cots available as well as a high chair. Bed linen provided but please bring your own towels (they can be hired if needed at an additional charge). Dogs by arrangement (additional charge applies). Electricity is included in the price and Gas (including central heating) is paid for as used by meter reading. Please contact the owner for prices.

Group bookings: Outside catering can be arranged via the owner. All male and female parties accepted.

Accessibility: Plas Mynach may be suitable for those with limited mobility as it has ground floor living and a ground floor twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. There are two steps upon entry to the property but a ramp could be provided if needed by prior arrangement. Please discuss your personal requirements with regard to accessibility with the owner before making the booking.
