About Howelston Mill Cottage

Howelston Mill Cottage is located within the picturesque coastal village of Little Haven where families and friends can enjoy the beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park just by stepping outside the door. There is space for eight people in four generous size bedrooms (plus cot), with guests luxuriating in 4-Star accommodation that includes a garden with patio and original features like the stone fireplace. Despite being a mere five-minute stroll from the beach and two welcoming pubs, the location feels wonderfully secluded, and there is no passing traffic to distract from the sound of birds tweeting in the garden and tranquility of the surrounding woodland. Best of all, it's available for holiday bookings all year round, which means you can get away when it suits you.

Little Haven has been a favourite holiday destination for generations. The quiet seaside village is a mile along the coast from its bigger sibling, Broad Haven, so shops, surf schools, equipment hire and other amenities are all nearby without you having the noise and bustle of a busy town on the doorstep. The difference between high and low tide at Little Haven is significant. When the water goes out, it goes way out - far enough that you can walk along the shoreline to The Settlands and Broad Haven. If you don't have time to make it back before the tide comes in, walk along the coast or jump on the Puffin Shuttle 400 service that links Little Haven with Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and St Davids.

Walking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is a pleasure in all seasons, which, in this part of Wales, you may sometimes feel like you get in one day! It's an amazing resource that attracts thousands of visitors every year. Walk south to St Bride's Haven or north to Druidston Haven and Newgale. The panoramic views will take your breath away. Cycling is another fantastic way to explore. Follow the circular Haven's Trail to Haverfordwest, passing Roch Castle along the way, or choose one of over a dozen way-marked on and off-road routes easily accessible from the cottage. Day trips can include visiting top attractions like Folly Farm, sightseeing in St Davids and Tenby, browsing farmer's markets and antique shops, or taking a boat trip to see the puffins and seabirds on Skomer Island.

Howelston Mill Cottage is completely private, self-contained and personally cleaned and managed by the owner. No hen or stag parties please.

Accommodation Comprises:

Howleston Mill Cottage is a large, two-storey property with a traditional layout. It's family-friendly, with a cot, stairgate, and a highchair available on request.

Downstairs:

  • Enormous sitting room with original stone walls and beams, a fireplace with a log burner, and plenty of comfortable seating where you can settle back and catch up over a bottle or two of wine. A bookcase is full of books and information about the local area to help you relax and plan your stay. There's also a TV with a DVD player for film nights. Glass doors open onto the terrace and outdoor dining area.
  • Snug/TV room with sofas, a TV with a DVD player, jigsaw puzzles and games. Perfect for when adults want to chat and the kids want to play, or if some people want to catch the rugby while others would rather listen to music.
  • Pretty Shaker-style kitchen diner with garden views and glass doors opening onto the terrace. It's very well-equipped for a self-catering holiday with family or friends, with appliances including a dishwasher and a double oven. The dining table seats eight.
  • Utility room with laundry and cleaning facilities plus wine cooler.
  • Family bathroom with a deep bath, walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Two large bedrooms with kingsized beds, proper storage and views of the garden.
  • Two twin bedrooms with two full-sized single beds in each. Big windows overlook the garden, and the decor suits guests of all ages.
  • Modern shower room with a shower, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The front garden has a big patio with a barbecue, an outdoor dining table and seating for eight people. There is a level lawn for playing or stretching out in the sunshine. There is off-street parking for three cars, and a line for drying wetsuits and washing.

Additional Information: Utilties, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Guests to bring cot bedding and beach towels if they are required. Please let the owner know when booking if you will need a cot, highchair, stairgate, or fuel for the woodburner. There is central heating throughout which guests have full control of. The owner requires a £200 damages deposit to be paid with the balance. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
