Mount Pleasant is a hit with large families and groups of friends who appreciate not only its location just 150 metres from the shore at Little Haven, but the amount of space it offers both indoors and out. The kids won't be able to wait to race down to the beach in the morning, so send them out into the garden to run off some of that energy while you enjoy a leisurely breakfast with sea views. With space for up to 12 people to sleep in six bedrooms there will be no arguments over rooms, and being within walking distance of three friendly pubs - The Castle, St Brides and The Swan - means that you can return tired from a long day of fun and not have to face cooking if you choose not to.
Little Haven is an apt name for this beautiful spot. It is at the southern end of St Bride's Bay in the western part of the Pembrokeshire National Park, a 20-minute walk along the coastal footpath from Broad Haven and an easy drive to both St Davids and Tenby. The house enjoys spectacular far-reaching views thanks to its location on Settlands Hill and is just steps from the Pembrokeshire Coast Footpath. Although Little Haven and neighbouring Broad Haven are favourites with families who return here year after year with their children and grandchildren, the vast expanse of shoreline has escaped commercialisation and never feels crowded. You can always find a quiet spot to sit and drink in the view, no matter what time of the year you visit.
The national park status has protected and preserved this breathtaking landscape. Start your day on the beach from where you can walk around The Settlands to Broad Haven when the tide is out. Alternatively set out for a clifftop walk along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath, which spans 186-miles and attracts thousands of trekkers every year. You can return via a circular route or hop aboard the Puffing Shuttle bus to get back home, and if you prefer cycling, then there are plenty of routes for every ability.
Surfing and coasteering are two popular activities, and a boat trip around nearby Skomer Island to see the puffins and other sea birds is a treat you won't forget in a hurry. Having so much space at Mount Pleasant means that it is perfectly possible also to spend the day at home, relaxing in the garden with games and a barbecue in summer, or settling down with hot chocolate and a board game in front of the log burner in cold weather.
