About Agricola House

Agricola House is the perfect space for a celebratory short break with extended family or friends, as well as a hen weekend. The beautiful house is in the heart of Wirksworth, only a short stroll from the shops, cafes, restaurants, wine bars and pubs that make this charming Derbyshire town such a favourite. The award-winning cottage comfortably sleeps up to 14 guests in 7 luxurious bedrooms, with living spaces designed for socialising and having fun.

Wirksworth is a wonderful choice for a holiday close to the Peak District. Not only does the town have excellent amenities but it is also ideally located for some of the area's favourite attractions like Chatsworth House, as well as fantastic footpaths and cycling routes, including the traffic-free High Peak Trail. Wirksworth is close to Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock, all of which have an excellent variety of independent shops and markets, while Chesterfield and Derby are also within easy reach with a great choice of High Street names.

The space at Agricola House is ideal for arranging in-house activities. Pamper yourself with a spa-day, making good use of the house's sauna and bringing in the services of a mobile beauty therapist or a yoga instructor. Hire a chef to cook your special celebration meal to follow a memorable wine-tasting experience, or spend the day learning a new skill together, like painting or baking.

Agricola House is perfect for your group holiday in the Peak District. Its space and interiors are welcoming enough that you may never want to leave. Accommodation Comprises:

Agricola House has recently been renovated to a high standard to provide luxurious accommodation all on one level. The house is full of thoughtful touches that make it feel like a home-away-from-home, including handcrafted furniture created specifically for the bedrooms. The living spaces are centrally located with the bedrooms and bathrooms divided across left and right wings.

Living Space

  • Enormous living room with plenty of seating and lots of space for guest to chat and mingle. It's a welcoming place where guests can relax and enjoy spending time together.
  • Intimate living room/cinema room where there is more comfortable seating as well as a large wall-mounted TV with Freeview channels and a soundbar to enhance the cinematic experience.
  • Massive kitchen/diner with an impressive vaulted ceiling and granite worktops. There is ample space to store and prepare food, and catering standard appliances to make cooking a pleasure. Guests are drawn to the relaxed atmosphere where meals at the refectory table become an experience to savour and enjoy.

Left Wing

  • There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the left wing of the house, which is also where the sauna is.
  • Bedroom 1 has zip-link beds that can either be a super-kingsized bed or two full-sized (3ft-wide) single beds.
  • Two double bedrooms, both with views over the private courtyard garden.
  • Twin room with two single beds with bespoke headboards.
  • Shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Family bathroom with a bath, WC and a handbasin.

Right Wing

  • Double room with a king-sized bed and an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Two further bedrooms with zip-link beds that can either be set up as a super kingsize (6ft-wide) or two full-sized single beds.
  • Two shower rooms with a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: Agricole House is as spacious outside as within, boasting a private courtyard garden with a barbecue and a table and seating for 14 people, secure storage for up to 10 bicycles, and off-street parking for up to 10 cars.

Additional Information: All utilities, fast WiFi, Egyptian cotton bed linen and bath towels are provided. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Not suitable for late night parties. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement – please ask before booking. Smoking is not permitted indoors.
