You would expect to see Slate Cottage in a glossy magazine. More of a house than a cottage sleeping ten guests, it is beautifully presented throughout with families in mind, perfectly combining luxury touches with family (and dog) friendly practicality to ensure everyone can relax and enjoy their time away together.
With a stylish contemporary and classic mix, topped off with a nod in the retro direction, Slate Cottage is an excellent choice for an extended family gathering, getting together with friends or a celebratory event. It's fabulous central dining hall has an enormous table allowing everyone to dine together in comfort, with a convenient family room in ears shot where the kids can play while the adults socialise. The kitchen has everything needed (including a large breakfast table) for self-catering, and the sitting room on the first floor with large log burner is perfect for chilling out, as is the ground floor family room with log burner and comfy seating for those who prefer to not climb stairs. Outside living is equally as appealing with a large enclosed garden (plus paddock where two cheeky Shetland ponies live) for relaxing and alfresco dining when the sun shines.
Whether you want to be close to the sea, the forest or want the convenience of a town, Slate Cottage is perfectly placed. It is approximately a twenty five minute walk into the popular Georgian market town of Lymington, a haven for yachting folk with its lovely boutiques lining the cobbled quay, high street names (including Waitrose) and bustling Saturday market. There is a children's play area just five minutes walk away as well as an indoor swimming pool (just over ten minutes).
With miles of tracks and trails throughout the New Forest National Park and coastal clifftop walks, the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor minded guests, especially those who enjoy walking, cycling, sailing, golf and horse riding. There are picturesque thatched villages and miles of open heather and gorse clad heathland to explore where ponies and cattle graze freely. Hop on the ferry from Lymington and take a trip to the Isle of Wight for the day, or visit one of the areas many attractions including nearby Beaulieu with its famous National Motor Museum; Bucklers Hard, steeped in maritime charm; Exbury Gardens (glorious when in Spring bloom), Lymington Sea Water Baths or for the younger party members, Paultons Park, home of the popular Peppa Pig World.
Whether you want to simply immerse yourself in the luxury of Slate Cottage or get out and about enjoying everything that this special corner of the country has to offer, this stylish holiday home is an excellent choice and less than two hours from London.
Designed with families in mind, Slate Cottage is perfect for multi-generation groups with bedrooms on both the ground and first floor.
