The Garden Room at Meadow Rise sleeps two guests and is a newly converted one room studio which is bright and modern and looks out over the owner's large garden and meadow beyond. Totally self-contained and sitting in the grounds of the owner's house, the studio is located just three miles from the coast at Milford on Sea and two miles from the edge of the New Forest. The Garden Room offers the best of both worlds - a retreat where you can be as busy or relaxed as you wish enjoying forest walks or lazy days by the sea.
The nearby village of Everton has a small supermarket, post office, church and The Crown Inn, serving tasty meals. Milford on Sea is also close by and is a traditional coastal village with a good choice of shops, restaurants and tea rooms around its green. The beach here looks out to The Isle of Wight and has a shingle spit leading to Hurst Castle with saltwater marshes behind - a haven for sea birds.
The picturesque Georgian market town of Lymington lies three miles away and has a lovely cobbled quay area with interesting boutique shops to browse. You can wander the high street with a wider variety of shops, including three major supermarkets and a cook shop offering excellent frozen ready meals. There is a large market in the high street every Saturday and both passenger and car ferries travel regularly every day from Lymington to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
Meadow Rise is an excellent base to explore both the Hampshire and Dorset coastline, along with the New Forest where you will see ponies, cattle and donkeys roam freely in the beautiful unspoilt woods and heathlands. Perfect for walkers, cyclists and those who enjoy horse riding.
Other places reachable in under an hour are: Beaulieu with its famous Motor Museum; Buckler’s Hard; Portsmouth which is home to the warships Victory and HMS Warrior, along with the Mary Rose Museum; Historic Winchester and the seaside towns of Bournemouth and Poole. Further afield you can visit the beautiful counties of Dorset and Wiltshire.
