Kingfisher Cottage is a fantastic holiday home in the beautiful New Forest National Park. Despite being a favourite holiday destination in the UK, the New Forest is wonderfully peaceful and, thanks to its protection as a national park, delightfully unspoiled. Thatched cottages, ancient forests and buildings listed in Domesday Book are all here, with Kingfisher being only a mile from the pretty riverside town on of Fordingbridge and within walking distance of good pubs like The George and The Crown Inn. With space for up to six people to sleep in two bedrooms, Kingfisher Cottage is ideal for couples, families and friends.
Fordingbridge is a friendly town in the north of the New Forest National Park. Built on the River Avon, it is one of the oldest settlements in the area. The much-photographed arched stone bridge dates from the late 1400s, while the oldest parts of the Church of St Mary's were built by the Normans several hundred years earlier. Fordingbridge has a local museum that is open in spring and summer where visitors can find out more about the area's history. There are a variety of shops, cafes and pubs making it a very convenient base for a self-catering holiday in the New Forest.
One of the biggest reasons people visit the New Forest National Park is for its wealth of beautiful scenery. The best ways to enjoy it are on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, and because it is mostly flat, you do not have to be enormously fit or experienced to do so. The long-distance Avon Valley Path runs through Fordingbridge, although you may not want to tackle the 34-miles in its entirety! Other favourite places to walk include Moors Valley Country Park, the arboretum at Brockenhurst, the lovely two-mile walk from Beaulieu to historical Buckler's Hard, or the stroll along the coast to Hurst Castle with its breathtaking views of the Solent towards the Isle of Wight.
In addition to miles of footpaths, the New Forest National Park has more than 100 miles of traffic free cycling routes, as well as an extensive network of bridleways. Bicycle hire and pony trekking are available locally. Other popular activities include splashing about on the fun inflatables at the New Forest Water Park or walking through the trees at Go Ape. Paultons Park, home to Peppa Pig World, is popular with families all year round, as is the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
Kingfisher Cottage sits on the 243-acre Burgate Manor Farm estate, one of seven excellent New Forest holiday cottages that can be booked individually or together to accommodate groups of up to 54 people. Guests can wander footpaths through meadows and beside the river, and are also able to arrange a permit to fish on the estate's private stretch of the Avon. The farm has cows, pigs and the occasional visit from wild deer, and is home to kingfishers, herons, waterfowl and barn owls, among other birds. It is a wonderfully relaxing spot for a holiday at any time of the year.

Accommodation Comprises:
Kingfisher is a pretty brick cottage with accommodation all on one level. As with all of the properties at Burgate Manor Farm, it is furnished with comfort in mind, providing visitors with everything they need for a relaxing holiday.
Outside: The patio has picnic furniture and a charcoal barbecue so you can spend as much time in the beautiful surroundings as you please, not even having to come inside for meals if you choose not to do so! There is a separate garden with a meadow that overlooks the River Avon, which is shared with guests from the other cottages. Footpaths run through the farm to allow guests to walk through the estate and enjoy the multitude of birds and insects as well as seeing the animals who live at Burgate Manor Farm. An enormous 80-foot long barn houses a variety of indoor games including pool, table football, table tennis and soft tennis.
Additional Information: All utilities, including WiFi, are included at Kingfisher Cottage. Beds will be made up for your arrival but guests are asked to bring bath towels, and beach towels if they will be needed. The owners are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs with prior agreement, although there are some considerations due to the cottage being on a working farm. Please contact the owner to discuss this before booking. Smoking is not permitted.
