Offering the best of both worlds with the coast close by, Kings Hyde Cottage sits within the boundaries of the New Forest National Park with direct access along the lane out into the forest where ponies and cattle graze freely.
Beautifully restored and presented throughout, Kings Hyde Cottage affords a peaceful position within the extensive grounds of the owner's property, offering the chance to escape away from it all. Easily accessible from London by train or car, you can leave your desk on a Friday night and be enjoying peace and tranquility within just a couple of hours.
Sleeping two, the cottage is cosy and romantic with plenty of space to relax and unwind both inside and out. A private patio is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine or BBQ in the sunshine during the summer months, and in the winter there is a log burner for cosy nights watching your favourite movie.
Bring your walking boots and explore the forest, or your bike with trails to get off the beaten track, and leafy lanes leading to pretty thatched villages with pubs for refreshment along the way. The area also offers superb pony trekking, as well as sailing, kayaking and golf.
As soon as you have strolled along the drive you are immediately in the open forest where you will see the wild ponies grazing, along with cattle and if you are lucky, deer. You can also walk to two pubs for a meal out, The Filly Inn serving real ales and good food, and the two hundred year old Hare and Hounds in Sway serving food all day.
Formerly a royal hunting ground, the New Forest may be small in size as far as national parks go, but it is jam packed with beauty and attractions. Whether you drive, cycle or walk, there are pretty villages and ancient towns with shops to browse and places for a meal out. These include the nearby village of Sway (two miles), the riverside town of Fordingbridge, picturesque Brockenhurst and Burley where the ponies still stroll freely along the lanes, Beaulieu with the National Motor Museum and Lyndhurst, the 'capital' of the forest. Lymington is also close by with its famous Saturday market and pretty cobbled quayside lined with boutiques, as well as high street names. From here you can catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight and discover the beauty of its glorious scenery and beaches.
For those seeking the cry of the gull, Milford on Sea is a short drive away with its lovely pebble beach providing fabulous views over the Solent and beyond to the Isle of Wight. This pretty village offers a good choice of pubs, shops and access to fabulous cliff top coastal walks. Keyhaven is another popular choice where you can walk to Lymington taking in the Salt Marshes alive with birdlife enroute. For those happy to travel further afield, Bournemouth, Sandbanks Peninsula at Poole and Studland are all within driving distance.
Whether you enjoy outdoor activities, lazy days on the beach simply relaxing or getting out and about exploring, Kings Hyde Cottage is an excellent choice for couples at any time of the year.
