Bluebells is a pretty holiday cottage on a family-run farm near Romsey in Hampshire. Sleeping six people in three bedrooms, the property is also dog-friendly and a favourite with families who appreciate the cottage's period features combined with modern comforts.
Romsey is ideal for exploring both the Hampshire countryside as well as the beautiful New Forest National Park. The historic cities of Winchester and Salisbury, the Dorset coastline and Stonehenge are also within easy reach. Other nearby attractions include the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu House, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, the Army Air Museum, Thruxton Races, Highclere Castle and Marwell Zoo.
There are footpaths winding their way past Michelmersh Manor Farm, leading walkers through nearby woodlands carpeted with bluebells during spring, along the Test Way (which is also excellent for cyclists), or in the footsteps of Charles I on the Monarch Way footpath. Whether you enjoy a gentle stroll beside the banks of the River Test or work up a healthy appetite on a 12-mile walk to Winchester, you will not be disappointed with the serenity and beauty of the landscape, no matter what the season. Fishing and golf are two more ways to enjoy this beautiful part of England, or saddle up and explore on horseback or bicycle.
Hampshire is steeped in history, including at Michelmersh Manor Farm which has roots stretching back to the 12th Century and the monks who once farmed the land. Salisbury's cathedral is spectacular, especially if you climb to the top for the expansive views, while Winchester has links to King Arthur's legendary round table. The National Trust manages several properties and gardens in the area, but you only have to go as far as Romsey or nearby Stockbridge to see evidence of Hampshire's extensive history.
Although it is beautifully quiet and rural, guests at Bluebells have the shops, restaurants and nightlife not only of Salisbury and Winchester within a 30-minute drive but are also within reach of Southampton and Portsmouth. The two self-catering cottages at Michelmersh Manor Farm can be booked independently, or together to sleep extended families or groups of up to 12 friends.
