Burgate Farmhouse is home to Wishing Well Cottage which sleeps up to six guests. Ideally placed the cottage is just half a mile from the centre of the country town of Fordingbridge which sits alongside the River Avon. The New Forest National Park boundary is just a five minute drive and the cottage is within easy reach of the A338, making Wishing Well Cottage an excellent touring base for visiting the areas many attractions. These include Winchester, iconic Stonehenge and the South Coast to name just a few.
Formerly a working farmhouse, this picturesque thatched property dates back to the 15th Century and has all the character you would expect from a Grade II listed farmhouse. Providing two individual cottage wings, which are both completely self-contained, the farmhouse is ideal for couples, families or groups of friends, accommodating up to ten guests when hired together (please note that the cottages are not inter-connecting).
Both cottages offer a home from home and are each well equipped with a Smart television, DVD and CD player, microwave, standard size cookers and Free Wi-Fi internet access. Guests also have the shared use of a spacious games room which is sure to keep the children (and adults!) entertained with table tennis, skittles, pool table, darts and a great selection of games. Outside there is plenty of space to relax during the warmer months with a large garden that extends to half an acre which is mainly lawn with trees, summer house, swings, BBQ and outdoor furniture - plenty of room for relaxing in the sunshine and also playing with a special separate area (with football net) where children can let off steam and enjoy ball games without interrupting adults' relaxation!
The New Forest is a beautiful area with vast open heathland, moors, magical wooded areas, pretty streams and babbling brooks, peaceful little villages, quaint houses, traditional pubs and ancient churches.
The owner has earned a Certificate of Excellence consistently for the past 11 years, including 'Hall of Fame' status from TripAdvisor. In 2024, the Traveller's Choice has also been awarded.

Wishing Well Cottage is ideally suited for family accommodation. The additional single bed in the master room allows for a seventh guest, however the ground floor living space is better suited for parties of six. Should your party include several children then you may find enough space for seven.

Additional information: Guests are welcome to arrange online grocery deliveries from any of the main supermarkets. Delivery can be made during the morning just before your arrival and everything will be unpacked and put away for you. Heating is by night storage heaters, with electric convectors for 'top up heat' during the winter months (or cool summer evenings when the storage heaters are switched off). Bed linen is included in the price and there is no charge for a cot or high chair. Also available (free of charge) is a large amount of baby/toddler ‘kit’. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at a small charge. Electricity is charged by meter. A small charge is made to use the washing machine and tumble drier. There is plenty of parking space in the large gravel area between the cottages and the garden.
Local area: The local area has immense appeal for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The Avon Valley is a popular fishing area and walkers can access The Avon Valley Footpath just across the road taking you over a foot bridge, through water meadows and beyond into the New Forest with miles of tracks and trails to explore. Alternatively, discover the magic of the forest by bike or horse back.
Fordingbridge is in the Avon Valley between the New Forest boundary and the Dorset borders. For those who fancy a day by the sea, Bournemouth is within easy reach by car (seventeen miles).
Head into Fordingbridge (2 mins by car or 10 mins walk) where you will find a choice of pubs including The George Inn where you can sit in the beer garden on a sunny day enjoying a meal whilst enjoying the views over the River Avon.
