Living
Ullswater Safari Suite is a romantic glamping escape for two set among the woodland surroundings of Skelwith Fold in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Built from heavy canvas and timber beams, the suite combines the atmosphere of outdoor living with the comfort of thoughtfully designed accommodation. Inside, the layout feels open and relaxed, with a queen-size bedroom, a modern bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen that lets couples prepare simple meals together. The living space includes a comfortable sofa and dining area, while the front wall of the suite can be opened up to connect the interior with the surrounding woodland. One of the highlights of the suite is the private balcony. From the hot tub, you can look out across the trees towards the Langdale fells and watch the changing light throughout the day. At night, the lack of nearby street lighting reveals clear views of the stars. The atmosphere here is calm and intimate, making Ullswater Safari Suite a memorable holiday rental in the Lake District for couples looking to slow down and spend time together in nature.
Skelwith Fold is just outside Ambleside and feels wonderfully tucked away despite its central location within the Lakes. The park is surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland, threaded with quiet paths and glades. Roe deer are often spotted among the trees, while woodpeckers and other woodland birds are regular visitors. Guests can wander through the grounds or take a gentle walk around Slew Tarn, a peaceful spot within the woodland that becomes particularly atmospheric in the evening light. The nearby village of Skelwith Bridge has a small collection of cafés and places to eat, including the well-known Drunken Duck Inn a short drive away. Ambleside lies only a few minutes further on and offers a lively mix of restaurants, independent shops and traditional Lakeland pubs. Boat trips leave from nearby Waterhead on Windermere, adding another way to explore the surrounding landscape.
The wider Lake District offers countless places to explore during a stay here. Windermere lies close by and is often the starting point for lakeside walks, boat trips or paddleboarding on calm mornings. Ullswater, one of the most beautiful lakes in the National Park, provides a quieter setting with dramatic mountain views and classic walking routes such as the path to Aira Force waterfall. Coniston Water and Grasmere are also within easy reach, each offering its own mix of scenery and Lakeland villages. Walkers can head into the fells around Loughrigg or explore forest trails through Grizedale. On slower days, simply wandering through nearby villages, stopping for coffee and enjoying the ever-changing views of water and mountain can be just as rewarding. With its woodland setting and central Lakeland location, Ullswater Safari Suite offers a peaceful base for couples wanting to experience one of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes.
