Rowling End House is a delightful pet friendly, 5 Star Gold Award holiday home that can accommodate up to eight guests within four bedrooms. This welcoming holiday home affords a fabulous secluded position within the Newlands Valley in the Lake District and is only four miles away from the many amenities and attractions of Keswick. Sitting amongst private grounds with gardens for relaxing and woodland, Rowling End House offers all the right ingredients whether you want to get away to relax amongst picturesque scenery or get out and about exploring the many attractions of the Lake District.
The famous fell walker and author, Alfred Wainwright believed that the undisturbed tranquility and lack of commercialisation and large scale tourism was Newlands Valley's largest asset, which has since changed little over the years. As is the case for Rowling End House which was a working farm until the 1950's with sheep and cattle from neighbouring farms still grazing its land to the front of the property.
Even though Rowling End enjoys a fabulous secluded peaceful position, it is ideally placed centrally in the Northern Lakes, making it easy to get to popular attractions like Keswick, Buttermere, Derwentwater and Borrowdale by car, bike or on foot. The location of Rowling End House makes it a popular choice for walkers with lovely walks starting straight from the front door of the house. Whether you are a keen hiker looking to explore the mountains or enjoy more of a sedate stroll, the surrounding area, valley and Lake provide endless opportunities. Rowling End is also only half an hours walk from the ferry, allowing you to explore the lake or take a trip over to Keswick on a more leisurely fashion.
Catbells is directly adjacent to Rowling End House and ideal for walkers who are new to the activity, providing stunning views of the scenery including the Solway Firth on a clear day. A haven for wildlife, the land at the front of the house has a Beck flowing through it, providing a fairly marshy environment which is visited regularly by deer and buzzards. Guests are welcome to walk through the fields (at your own risk) but are asked not to disturb the wildlife and be mindful of cattle grazing.
There are plenty of things to do and see in this area to keep all ages amused, including: Honister slate mines; Borrowdale Go Ape; Braithwaite Keswick Climbing Wall; Whinlatter Forest; Cumberland pencil museum; The puzzling place; Newlands Adventure centre; Keswick Mire House; Keswick Trotters world of animals; Keswick Alhambra cinema; Keswick Launch ferry and Thronthwate Galleries.
For those who want to venture a little further afield, Penrith is twenty one miles, Carlisle thirty five miles and Workington is twenty miles.
