3 Forge Cottages is the perfect place for a rural retreat. Tucked away on a quiet property near Staunton on Arrow in Herefordshire, a short stroll from the River Arrow with scenic countryside views, the former farm building has been beautifully converted into a welcoming holiday cottage where up to four people can stay in comfort. Hereford and Ludlow are both within easy reach, as are the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a welcoming home away from home for couples and families, with the two-bedroom and two-bathroom layout also suiting friends.
A favourite feature of a self-catering holiday in Herefordshire is that it's always the right time to visit. Every season is uniquely beautiful, with a climate mild enough that most footpaths and cycling routes are accessible all year round. In spring, you can walk along country lanes past hedgerows bursting with a forager's bounty. Apple orchards laden with fruit are a highlight of summer weather, woodlands take centre stage in autumn, and there's nothing that surpasses the peace of a walk in the low sunshine of winter. It's all on the doorstep of 3 Forge Cottages, waiting for you to discover and enjoy.
Those who love spending time outdoors will be overjoyed with the opportunities for walking, cycling and mountain biking, along with fishing, canoeing, and playing golf. If historic buildings are your thing, add the fantastic 40-mile Black and White Trail, Hereford Cathedral, Ludlow Castle, Hampton Court Castle, National Trust Berrington Hall and Brockhampton Estate to your itinerary. The displays will inspire gardeners at Queenswood Country Park Arboretum, and Hergest Croft Gardens. Family-friendly attractions include Oaker Wood Leisure, the Small Breeds Farm Park & Owl Centre, Acton Scott Working Farm, and West Midland Safari Park. Hay-on-Wye hosts the internationally acclaimed Hay Literary Festival every May, but the riverside town is always top choice for browsing bookshops and settling back with your purchases over a pot of tea and a wedge of cake.
3 Forge Cottages is one of two superb holiday homes on the owner's estate. Each is entirely self-contained and private, with space for four people in two bedrooms. 3 Forge Cottages is a fantastic conversion of a former farm building that blends the original rustic character with a high standard of comfort. Accommodation is all on one level.
Outside: Doors open from the living room onto the patio and enclosed lawn. There is a table with four chairs and a charcoal barbecue for outdoor meals in nice weather. The cottage has one allocated parking space, with further parking across the road or in the village hall car park.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
