Old Barn House is everything you want in a country holiday cottage. This gorgeous Herefordshire self-catering cottage sits in rolling countryside with views that appeal in every season with star gazing potential. There are four bedrooms - including one accessible room on the ground floor - and open-plan living areas that make this house perfect for everything from a relaxed week in the school holidays to Christmas or a special celebration with your extended family or friends.
The cottage is in Pencoyd, a tiny hamlet near St Owen's Cross just a mile from the stunning Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a fishing lake just 350 metres from the door, and the cottage is also only 20 minutes from the River Monnow which makes the border between England and Wales, so there is endless scope for fishing, kayaking, canoeing and gorge walking. This region is a favourite with cyclists, mountain bikers and walkers for the quality and variety of the paths, and it's no exaggeration to say that you could holiday here every year and never run out of footpaths, bridleways and cycling routes to enjoy. Symond's Yat, the Forest of Dean, the Malvern Hills, and Offa's Dyke are some of the better-known areas, and with the western border of the Brecon Beacons National Park within easy reach, places like the Black Mountains in Wales are also open to you.
Herefordshire's gorgeous countryside is more than just a pretty view. The area's farms and orchards produce amazing food, especially beef, cheese and cider. Self-catering is a pleasure when you have such delicious ingredients to use, so make the most of the vibrant local markets and shops which will make your food shopping a treat to relish rather than the usual chore to endure. Spend a relaxing few hours browsing the independent shops and market stalls at Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, and Monmouth. Hereford is a gorgeous cathedral town with independent and High Street shops, and Gloucester's cathedral is also worth a visit. Cheltenham, Bristol and Cardiff are all close enough for a day of shopping and sightseeing.
The owners of Old Barn House have taken care over the little details, like the quality of the sheets, every bit as much as the big features, such as the outdoor hot tub, to ensure their guests have everything they could wish for in a relaxing stay. It is a lovely place to spend with your family and friends, relaxing and having fun with the people you love the best.
