Gardener’s Cottage is situated on a large family owned estate in the village of Lyonshall in Herefordshire. Originally build around 1850, and once home to the Head Gardener of the Whitten Estate, the cottage perfectly blends character and charm with modern day comforts such as a log burner fire, unlimited WiFi and access to a swimming pool. Both child and dog friendly, the cottage sleeps six guests making it perfect for families and friends. It is one of six beautiful holiday homes on the Whittern Estate making it possible to also accommodate larger groups.
If you can tear yourself away from the peaceful setting of the estate you will be spoilt for choice with the number of things to see and do. Go canoeing in the Wye Valley, play golf at Kington Golf Club or go rock climbing at Symonds Yat. With clay shooting, gorge scrambling, mountain biking and high ropes courses also available nearby there is plenty to keep adventurous souls entertained. You can even take a flying lesson at Shobdon air field, just five miles away. For those who prefer slightly more sedate activities, bring your walking boots and enjoy miles and miles of stunning footpaths. The Offa’s Dyke footpath is nearby and the Brecon Beacons are just over the border in Wales.
The nearby towns of Ludlow, Hereford, Hay-on-Wye and Leominster are all perfect for lazy afternoons browsing antique shops and local art galleries as well as sampling the local cuisine. Other activities include taking a tour of the local black and white timbered villages, visiting local castles and National Trust properties or enjoying a day out at Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo.

Gardeners Cottage dates back to 1850 and was formerly the Head Gardeners Cottage for the estate. A well-proportioned attractive property, it sits in its own large open garden and affords an isolated location in the very heart of the estate, next to the original walled kitchen garden.
Located just five metres to The Forge, both cottages can be rented together for larger parties of up to eleven guests within dining facilities for up to ten guests in each property.
Oriental in design, Gardeners Cottage is beautifully presented with accommodation that comprises:
