The Owlery is situated on the Dittiscombe Estate. It's a romantic retreat, set amidst glorious Devonshire countryside in a tranquil valley setting. It's a cosy pet-free cottage which is ideal for couples looking for a romantic break or to celebrate a special occasion such as an anniversary or honeymoon.
Sitting amongst extensive grounds, The Owlery offers all the right ingredients to relax and unwind with a log burning stove for cosy winter nights, fabulous spa bath which two can fit in and enjoy a long soak and a glass of bubbles, an attractive king-size bedroom and pretty garden with stream and beautiful valley views for when the sun shines.
Guests not only have their own private garden where you can relax and dine alfresco, but they can also use the grounds which are extensive with a nature trail which provides a nice walk with wildlife to see. A true oasis of calm where peace and quiet abound!
Owlery Cottage is pet-free and a cosy retreat for two, providing plenty of space and all the right ingredients for a relaxing break away.
Accommodation comprises:
Open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with space to cook, dine and relax in front of the log burner. Comfortable seating, a television, DVD player, and a kitchen well equipped with electric oven/hob, microwave and fridge provide everything needed for self-catering. There is also a dining table and chairs.
Attractive king-size double bedroom with views of the orchard upstairs above the living area on a galleried mezzanine.
Bathroom with shower, WC, wash basin, heated towel rail and fabulous spa bath with room for two - relax at the end of the day with a long soak and aqua-massage.
Outside
The cottage has a lovely garden with outside furniture where guests can relax and look over the pond during the warmer months and relax, as well as a lawned garden for relaxing in privacy. There is a parking space by Owlery Cottage.
Location
Conveniently located, The Owlery provides easy access to South Devon's glorious golden beaches, and endless walks along the Coastal Path (the walk from Dartmouth to Start Point Lighthouse is particularly special with stunning seascapes along the way).
Slapton village is two miles from the cottage where you will find two good pubs and the popular community shop. Slapton Sands beautiful award winning beach is a short walk from the village. There is a stunning freshwater lake at Slapton Ley with lots of wildlife to see and also nature safaris; or walk to Torcross and savour fish and chips at Start Bay Inn (some of the finest in the area!).
The popular sailing towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth are easily accessible by car and offer a great choice of interesting shops to browse, restaurants serving the freshest of seafood and pubs for a pint of local ale. Also within easy reach are the bustling market towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge.
The South Hams area is a very special part of South Devon and one of the country's most beautiful unspoilt places that entices people from far and wide. With its gentle micro-climate, magnificent coastline, pretty estuaries teeming with wildlife, stunning beaches, superb food and drink producers, pretty ancient villages and huge selection of attractions, you are sure to want to visit time and time again.

Additional information: Short breaks available from November to March or at short notice when available. A complimentary basket of logs is provided, along with bath and hand towels, and the bed is made up for guests arrival. Sorry but no dogs and the cottage is not suitable for children/toddlers (unless babes in arms). A local company can be recommended for guided kayak tours - what better way to discover the beauty of the local estuaries and rivers. Bike storage available.

Nature walks around the Estate with local ecologist Ken Neal on Sundays throughout the school summer holidays which are free to Dittiscombe guests. Pte-booking required contact Ruth at hello@dittiscombe.co.uk. Also Forest Bathing sessions around the Dittiscombe woods to learn to connect with nature: on selected dates with guide Donna McCheyne.
