About Dittiscombe Estate & Cottages

Dittiscombe Estate provides the perfect place to relax amongst the tranquility of a beautiful valley setting in South Devon. Here you can totally unwind as the Estate has 20 acres of valley for the enjoyment of guests and their dogs with a nature walk from each cottage door. There is an imaginative nature trail which guests can explore or simply sit back and watch the wildlife from the cottage front door. A true piece of heaven . . . peace and quiet in abundance!

Rafters is dog friendly cottage suitable for 2 guests in 2 bedrooms.

Rafters has a lovely enclosed south-facing garden with sliding patio doors. It welcomes up to 2 dogs. It has an airy, open-plan ground floor with a sitting, dining and kitchen area, ceramic tiled floor throughout, and lovely views of the garden through sliding patio doors and windows.

A stone-built fireplace with a flame-effect electric fire and storage heater and convector, Wifi and TV with streaming, bookshelves, two double sofas and coffee tables.

The fully-equipped kitchen area has a ceramic hob, microwave, electric oven and storage heater, and the dining area has an extending oak dining table and chairs. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath with electric shower over, an electric fan heater and storage heater, basin and toilet.

Upstairs there is a galleried landing which leads to the two bedrooms. The main bedroom has low, ancient rafters and a kingsize bed; the second bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have storage heaters.

One step through the patio doors takes you to the south-facing, enclosed level garden. Wooden patio furniture sits on a gravelled area and there is a further area of lawn.

Dovecote is dog-friendly cottage, suitable 2 guests in 2 bedrooms.

Up to 2 dogs are welcome. The cosy sitting room with wood laminate flooring and a beamed ceiling has a log-burner plus a convector and storage heater. There is a 2-seater sofa, armchair and coffee tables, Wifi and TV with streaming. There is a back door leading to a lower gravel garden and steps to a higher area of garden with lovely views and a picnic table.

The separate kitchen/dining room is fully-equipped with a ceramic hob, electric oven and microwave. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath with electric shower over, heated towel rail and electric fan heater, toilet and basin.

Upstairs the main bedroom has a king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe, and storage heater. The second bedroom has a single bed a chest of drawers and convector heater.

The small gravel sitting area with a table and two chairs enjoys morning sun and the higher garden access by steps, is part-fenced with a picnic table, and has mature hedging and lovely valley views. The cottage garden gate gives access to the fields and orchard. The garden is not completely enclosed.

Location

Dittiscombe Estate is a real retreat but it's still easily accessible to the unspoilt and beautiful beaches of this area. There are stunning coastal walks along the South West Coast Path, from Dartmouth to Start Point Lighthouse.

Just two miles north of Slapton village, which has two very good pubs and the popular community shop for local produce, you can also take the nature trail around Slapton Ley's lovely fresh water lake. Here there is an abundance of wildlife. Venture a short distance further to Torcross and for some of the areas finest fish and chips at the local pub.

Salcombe and Dartmouth, popular sailing towns, have much to offer and are within easy reach, as are the bustling market towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge.

The South Hams area is a very special part of South Devon and one of the most unspoilt and beautiful areas in the country. With a gentle climate all year round, visitors can enjoy dramatic coastline, pretty estuaries, beautiful beaches, excellent food and drink producers, lovely historic villages and huge selection of attractions.

Short breaks available from November to March. A complimentary basket of logs is provided in Dovecote. Towels can be provided by prior arrangement. Beds are made up for guests' arrival. A local company can be recommended for guided canoe tours - what better way to discover the beauty of the local estuaries and rivers. Bike storage available.

Up to two dogs are welcome and charged at £25 per dog per week (or £10 per dog for short breaks).
