Swallow Cottage at Leigh Cottages sleeps four guests (or five with an extra bed) and is situated a few yards from the top of a beautiful National Trust combe leading a mile down to the coast path and a lovely natural beach (dog-friendly all year round). A more level walk will take you to the top of Weston Cliff, where on a clear day you can see Portland Bill in the east, right down to Start Point in the west.
There are a number of lovely walks directly from the cottage and many more within a short drive or bus ride, making the cottage ideal for those who want to walk most days and discover the beauty of the area by foot. Opposite the entrance to the cottage is a gate into the world famous Donkey Sanctuary. A few minutes walk on a grassy walkway will take you to the main yard, which is free to enter and where there is a good cafe overlooking the donkeys and down the combe to the sea. Well behaved dogs are welcome both at the cottage and the Donkey Sanctuary (which has eight miles of walkways to enjoy).
The area has no shortage of places to visit for a day trip out. The lovely seaside town of Sidmouth is just two miles away. Sitting on the Jurassic Coast (a world UNESCO site), Sidmouth is surrounded by glorious countryside and has a timeless charm with its Blue Flag beach and eateries for a meal out. Branscombe is also within easy reach and a postcard pretty coastal village with thatched cottages, a historic church, two pubs and a lovely shingle beach. Walk from Branscombe along the Undercliff to Beer with a good choice of shops and pubs for enjoying a crab sandwich or fish and chips or venture slightly further afield and visit Seaton and Lyme Regis.
Alternatively, stay put and enjoy relaxing and walking in the Devon countryside surrounding Swallow Cottage - a wonderful holiday destination whatever your age.

Swallow Cottage is one of eight single storey buildings in a quiet off road setting of lawns and shrubs, safe for children and ideal for all ages. Well-behaved pets are accepted (at no extra charge). Rooms and doorways are generously spacious.

Outside: The patio area is south facing and can be wonderfully warm in this favoured area even well out of season. One car can be parked next to the cottage and there is room for another if required in the visitor car park.
Additional information: WiFi available. The owner prefers week long bookings but will consider short breaks out of peak season. Prices include heating, electricity, bed linen and towels. No smoking. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge by prior arrangement (if you would like to bring more than two dogs, please speak to the owner before booking). Refreshment (tea, coffee, milk in the fridge and biscuits) provided for arrival.
Accessibility: Parking is next to the cottage and accommodation is single level with wide doorways so possibly suitable for wheelchair users (please discuss your requirements with the owner before booking).
