Dairy Cottage is a privately owned, stone built holiday cottage within Exmoor National Park, sleeping up to five people, but better suited to up to four. It sits high on the southern slopes of the River Barle, mid way between the river in the valley and open moorland at the top the hill. It is one of several converted from old farm buildings to provide self-catering accommodation and has a welcoming and homely atmosphere. There are small enclosed areas to both sides of the cottage, the east side catching the morning sun, and the larger west side enjoying the afternoon and evening sun. There is also a large well fenced communal garden with picnic tables and lovely views. The cottage is situated on a long, quiet, single track lane which ends in a footpath leading to Tarr Steps. In keeping with much of Exmoor, the lane leading up to the cottage from Dulverton is narrow and steep. In the Guest Information Folder you will find directions to a viewpoint just a few minutes away where Red Deer can be seen most days.
The cottage is just two miles from the lovely riverside town of Dulverton, which has a variety of independent shops, pubs and cafes as well as a small well stocked Co-op Supermarket. The cottage is surrounded by permanent pasture where Exmoor Ponies and Red Deer graze and the variety of plants and animals is bound to delight walkers, nature and animal lovers, or those who just want to get away from it all. The area is very dog friendly and there are numerous places on the moor and by the rivers where you can pull in free of charge to explore the endless paths and tracks.
The dramatic Exmoor coastline has many unforgettable views along its coast path and is just half an hour away. Visit beautiful Dunster and its castle, Porlock Weir and the Valley of Rocks near Lynton and Lynmouth where the coast path is especially dramatic. Wildlife safaris and riding are available locally and water sports and other activities at nearby Wimbleball Lake and Country Park. The large Pannier markets held under cover at Barnstaple, Bideford and South Molton are a local tradition. A rack of tourist information is provided, along with walking and nature guides to help you enjoy your stay, and further information is just an email or phone call to the owners away.

Accommodation is single storey and comprises:
Outside: The cottage has a designated off road parking place, along with small enclosed outside areas on each side with the larger being a sun-trap during the afternoon and evening - the perfect place for a glass of wine at the end of the day! Guests are also welcome to use the communal garden which is shared with other guests and has picnic tables to sit and enjoy the lovely views.
Additional information: Wi-fi available at no extra charge. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome and we do not charge extra - all we ask is that for the comfort of all guests, dogs are up to date with flea treatments, they are not left alone in the cottage and all obvious signs of a dog staying are removed before departure. Please bring your own bedding and towels for your dog. Electricity (including storage heating), bed linen and towels are included in the price (guests to bring beach towels). Please note that whilst the cottage can be booked for five guests, it is on the understanding that there are only two bedrooms and whilst the second triple bedroom has adult-size bunk beds, the room is more suited to children as there is limited storage and a Velux for natural light. Whilst the dining table is large, the owners feel the cottage is best suited to smaller groups.
