Kissing Gate Cottage sleeps up to eight guests and sits in the pretty Gloucestershire village of Ebrington just a couple of miles from Chipping Campden. With its narrow little lanes flanked with lovely Cotswold stone properties, ‘Yubberton’, as it is known to the locals, is a peaceful village with a great local pub (The Ebrington Arms) set next to the green, serving local ales and excellent food. The pub also hosts numerous events throughout the year and brews its own bitters (Yubby and Tawny).
The Ebrington Manor, owned by the Fortescue family, has existed in the village for many centuries, along with the historic church of St Eadburgha which is set in pretty grounds and displays medieval stained glass windows and special monuments of the Fortescue family.
Ebrington is a great base for exploring the Cotswolds and its many attractions. Within just a short drive is Hidcote Manor (one of the National Trust's finest) with its magnificent gardens - a must for garden lovers and also walkers with some lovely walks to be enjoyed from the car park (there is also a gift shop and cafe for refreshments afterwards!). Kiftsgate Court (home to the largest rose in England) is also just a short stroll from Hidcote Manor.
Several major Cotswold walking routes run near or through Ebrington, providing easy access to the beautiful rolling countryside that surrounds (with the nearest walk starting just a few metres from the cottage front door).
Nestling amongst the Cotswold Hills, Chipping Campden is one of the most picturesque, unspoilt medieval towns in England and just a couple of miles away. It's High Street's is lined with beautiful 18th Century buildings, home to lovely independent shops to browse, pubs and restaurants.
There are numerous honey coloured towns and villages that the Cotswolds is famed for within each reach of Kissing Gate Cottage including Shakespeare's Stratford Upon Avon, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton in Marsh. Cheltenham, Blenheim Palace (in Woodstock), Oxford, Warwick Castle and even the City of Bath are all within driving distance and make great days out.
