Arden Barn sleeps six people in three ensuite bedrooms, providing families with 5 Star accommodation only a mile from Stratford-upon-Avon. The cottage is in the pretty rural village of Shottery and within walking distance of two welcoming pubs - The Bell and The Squirrel - as well as cafes and shops. Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway, lived a short stroll away from where Arden Barn now stands, and her house and garden is a must-see while you are in the area.
Warwickshire and the Cotswolds AONB have many pretty towns like Stratford-upon-Avon, which stands out above the rest due to its links with the great English playwright, William Shakespeare. You can't escape The Bard and why would you want to, with visitors coming from around the world to see attractions like Shakespeare's Birthplace, Shakespeare's School, and the theatre of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Stratford-upon-Avon gets very busy, especially in school holidays and summer, so staying at Arden Barn is the perfect way to see all of the famous sights while avoiding crowds of day-trippers.
You don't have to be interested in Shakespeare to enjoy staying in a self-catering cottage in Shottery. This part of England is incredibly pretty, and some lovely walks and cycling routes are easily accessible from the cottage. Warwick, with its magnificent castle, is around a 15-minute drive from Arden Barn, while the north Cotswolds and towns like Broadway and Chipping Campden are not much further. Historic Oxford, with its ancient university and fantastic amenities, is just over an hour's drive, while a day's shopping in Birmingham is only 45-minutes away.
Suitable attractions for a day out include the Stratford Butterfly Farm, Bicester Designer Shopping Outlet, Cheltenham Racecourse and Gloucester Cathedral. Coventry, Lemington Spa and Leicester are all within an hour of Arden Barn, making it an ideal destination for a holiday at any time of year.
