Yew Tree Cottage - Self catering holiday cottage, Hyde, Hampshire, The New Forest, England - Sleeps 8+2
Yew Tree Cottage dates back some four hundred years and is a detached four bedroom thatched holiday cottage located within the 'cattle grid' area of the New Forest National Park. The cottage sits within half an acre of gardens and is well placed for those who want to explore the forest by foot with forest walks starting from the front door.
The back garden is in a sunny position and there is a picnic table, providing an ideal place for enjoying a barbecue (whilst there is a brick BBQ provided, it is recommended that you bring your own disposable BBQ as the cleanliness of the one provided cannot be guaranteed). There is plenty of room for recreational activities and at the far end of the lawn, it slopes away to a small clear water stream, providing a popular place for children to play (under supervision at your own responsibility). There is also a summerhouse which is used to store garden tools so out-of-bounds to guests.
The surrounding area is quiet with little passing traffic and the cottage is accessed via a gravel lane. Located in Hyde Village, Yew Tree Cottage is near to Hyde Common and has two pubs within half a mile walk. The area has plenty of attractions within easy reach and much to offer outdoor enthusiasts with fishing, horse riding, walking and cycling the little lanes and forest tracks. There is also plenty of wildlife to watch including the famous New Forest ponies which can be seen wandering the lanes and forest.
Other places of interest within driving distance providing a great day out are Stonehenge, Beaulieu Motor Museum, the Cathedral City of Salisbury, Lymington, Bouremouth with its beaches and the Isle of Wight, along with plenty of historic homes and gardens.

Free logs are supplied from September until the end of May and there are electric storage heaters throughout the cottage to ensure guests comfort.
Please Note: The cottage is four hundred years old with much of its original 'olde worlde' character. It is a much-loved family home and is furnished to a basic, comfortable and homely standard. It has a high level of returning guests who come to enjoy the lovely setting and character of the cottage but if 'rustic' and 'quaint' are not what you are looking for - it is recommended that you do not book this cottage.
