27 High Street is perfect in every way. The pastel-blue holiday cottage dates from the 1820s and is in the pretty Pembrokeshire village of Solva, with space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms. There are stunning views of Solva Harbour and St Bride's Bay from the bedrooms and the living room. Solva isn't large, but it has everything you could wish for in a relaxed self-catering holiday destination - a picturesque harbour, a thriving village shop, a waterfront cafe, and a warm welcome at the Harbour Inn pub. Everything, including the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath, is within a gentle stroll of the cottage, which is a favourite with couples, families and friends in the area for a walking holiday.
The Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park is 240 square miles of breathtaking beauty. Soft sandy beaches fringe turquoise waters, rugged cliffs are navigable by a well-defined footpath affording incredible views, and every town and village has a unique character and story. Solva is at the heart of all of this. Its harbour is a popular spot for crabbing and paddling, and the high tide hides a small beach. Nearby Newgale and Whitesands Bay provide plenty of swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, paddleboarding, and coasteering opportunities.
Day trips can include a wildlife-watching boat trip around Skomer and Ramsay Islands to see the puffins and the dolphins. Spend a relaxed day in St Davids, admiring its magnificent cathedral, ruined medieval Bishop's Palace, and galleries showcasing work by local artists. Haverfordwest has a castle, museum and local farmers market every Friday morning. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath has a regular shuttle service that lets you walk as far as you like without having to save your legs for the return journey. Local attractions like Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Oakwood Theme Park, and Blue Lagoon Water Park appeal to children and teens, while places such as Narbeth and Newport are great for browsing antiques and homewares.
Solva is busy enough to be interesting without feeling touristy, and it's never overcrowded, even in summer. It's precisely what you need for recharging physically and emotionally, whether with your family or friends.
