About 27 High Street

27 High Street is perfect in every way. The pastel-blue holiday cottage dates from the 1820s and is in the pretty Pembrokeshire village of Solva, with space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms. There are stunning views of Solva Harbour and St Bride's Bay from the bedrooms and the living room. Solva isn't large, but it has everything you could wish for in a relaxed self-catering holiday destination - a picturesque harbour, a thriving village shop, a waterfront cafe, and a warm welcome at the Harbour Inn pub. Everything, including the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath, is within a gentle stroll of the cottage, which is a favourite with couples, families and friends in the area for a walking holiday.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park is 240 square miles of breathtaking beauty. Soft sandy beaches fringe turquoise waters, rugged cliffs are navigable by a well-defined footpath affording incredible views, and every town and village has a unique character and story. Solva is at the heart of all of this. Its harbour is a popular spot for crabbing and paddling, and the high tide hides a small beach. Nearby Newgale and Whitesands Bay provide plenty of swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, paddleboarding, and coasteering opportunities.

Day trips can include a wildlife-watching boat trip around Skomer and Ramsay Islands to see the puffins and the dolphins. Spend a relaxed day in St Davids, admiring its magnificent cathedral, ruined medieval Bishop's Palace, and galleries showcasing work by local artists. Haverfordwest has a castle, museum and local farmers market every Friday morning. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath has a regular shuttle service that lets you walk as far as you like without having to save your legs for the return journey. Local attractions like Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Oakwood Theme Park, and Blue Lagoon Water Park appeal to children and teens, while places such as Narbeth and Newport are great for browsing antiques and homewares.

Solva is busy enough to be interesting without feeling touristy, and it's never overcrowded, even in summer. It's precisely what you need for recharging physically and emotionally, whether with your family or friends.

Accommodation Comprises:

27 High Street is a late Georgian cottage with an authentically homely feel that will put you at ease as soon as you arrive. It has a traditional layout with an enclosed garden.

  • An original oriel window in the living room lets in gorgeous natural light and looks out over the garden to St Bride's Bay and Solva Harbour. Turn on the TV and, in cold weather, light the open fire. Two armchairs and a sofa provide a welcome place to rest after a full day.
  • Forget cramming down meals in between work and other commitments. The antique dining table and chairs have a patina from countless dishes and elbows. The dining room also has an original fireplace and built-in shelves crammed with books.
  • A modern six-burner stove and large oven make light work of cooking whether you're plating up fish-and-chips or a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Despite modern appliances, the kitchen has a delightful cottage charm.
  • Save climbing the stairs with a convenient cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.

  • You'll leap out of the master bedroom's kingsized bed in the morning, ready to throw open the curtains for beautiful views over the garden to the water.
  • A twin room with two single beds also enjoys lovely views of the harbour and St Bride's Bay.
  • Bathe or shower in the family bathroom with a WC and a handbasin.

Outside: An enclosed garden has a table and chairs, a lawn and mature flowering plants. It's a gorgeous place for breakfast, your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine after an energetic day at the beach. There is off-road parking for one car outside the cottage.

Additional Information: Bed linen, tea towels, utilities and WiFi are included when you book this Pembrokeshire holiday cottage. Guests will need to bring their own towels. One well-behaved dog is welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not allowed.
