About Four Ashes & Oyster Reach

A spectacular luxury country house and cottage set within 8 acres of grounds, with a private, heated indoor infinity swimming pool and tennis court, situated on the outskirts of the village of Cosheston, an idyllic location in the Pembrokeshire National Park on the coastal path with stunning waterside views.

Four Ashes sleeps up to 12 people, plus 2 infants in cots and Oyster Reach cottage 4 people, plus 1 infant in a cot.

Our superb indoor infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterway and gives the impression of an endless swimming pool.

The pool is located immediately adjacent to Four Ashes, in an elevated position that enjoys the most amazing views of the estuary. The contemporary building features rolling glass walls such that in warm weather, two sides of the building can be opened up to access the large terraced deck area to take up the sun after a relaxing swim. On cooler days, with the glass walls closed, guests can swim in luxurious warmth whilst still enjoying the fantastic estuary views. And for those who may choose not to swim, they can relax poolside on the super- comfortable poolside loungers to read, watch the family or just stare out over the waterway!

Maintained at a constant 28 degrees, the saltwater pool is perfect for wallowing and basking, or for the more energetic – large enough (at 8.9 metres long and 4.8 metres wide, and 1.5 metres deep) to work off some calories with a few energetic lengths! And no smelly chemicals to dry out your skin or make your eyes sting! For complete peace of mind the pool has a motorised safety cover. A monster of a shower, changing room, toilet and pool towels complete the package.

The unique character of the luxury coastal cottage extends to the grounds, in all, approximately 8 acres, and includes a private tennis court. The informal gardens were once open to the public – such is the variety and rarity of the trees and shrubs that enjoy this special Pembrokeshire microclimate. Pathways meander through the rockeries, shrubberies and woodland, leading you down to the water’s edge – taking the left pathway down to boathouse, or the right pathway down to the beach.

Our boathouse sits just above the private jetty and a Smeg Fridge to keep your drinks cold. It’s a great place for a BBQ, to jump in for a swim at high tide or just sit and watch the boats pass by!

Head up from the house, across the lawn and the rose garden, past the sun terrace and the cleverly positioned, elevated summer house (the perfect place for a glass of wine, to watch the sun go down) and you find the kitchen garden, the tennis court and its quaint pavilion. The four acre paddock which is bounded by the driveway, is a great place for dogs to run, and they will love exploring the extensive footpaths that lead from the property in either direction along the estuary. The Pembrokeshire Coastal path runs alongside the paddock. Dog friendly in every sense – we challenge you to run out of great walks to tire your four legged friends!

If the weather is right – outside dining is a must. The terrace boasts a super large table and chairs.

There is plenty of parking for both the luxury coastal cottages – an unloading area right next to the house, and a designated car parking areas just a few yards away at the bottom of the private drive.

There is a huge choice of highly recommended attractions to visit locally.

Location (The Pembrokeshire Coast)

Downstairs

Imagine the house as three sides of a rectangle, built into the rock, which forms the fourth side. In the centre space is an enclosed courtyard – with steps leading to the kitchen garden and onwards to the tennis court. But back to the front!

Through the porch and the front door and you’ll find yourselves in the large front hall.

The lounge is a room of two halves. Take up a space on the window seat or one of the two easy chairs for the most stunning view of the estuary – at any time of day or state of the tide – become absorbed with the water, birds, yachts and everything else aquatic. At the other end, a state of the art home entertainment system – cinema screen HD SmartTV and all the gadgets – surround sound system, DVD player. Or on winter evenings, you may like to draw the curtains, turn the huge, comfy chairs to the fire place, light the log fire and snuggle down to read or to listen to your choice of music on the zoned music system.

Off the lounge is the study/ library – another log-fire-opportunity here, whilst you make your choice from the eclectic library, or maybe a pub game. If you need to keep in touch, or to do some work this is a great place to set up the lap top and log onto broadband. A side door takes you from the study to the rose garden and side lawn. Cross to the elevated the summer house – a great place to sit and read, or stare, or doze.

Younger visitors will make a bee line for the play room and all the toys– just off the study, and with its own exit to the rear courtyard, or through the servant’s hall into the kitchen to see what’s cooking.

The rear hall – or servant’s hall as it was in days of yore – is a great place for wellies and coats and the perfect way in at the end of a muddy walk. Check out the cupboard made especially for tennis racquets!

Two serveries open out from here, one into the lounge – now forming a bar – complete with a wine/beer chiller.

The other opens into the study Off the servants hall are two loo’s – his and hers, so hardly ever the need to queue. The kitchen – the heart of the house, in a lavishly equipped, spacious L -shape room – at one end, the butler’s pantry – serveries through to the dining room, and easy access to the dishwasher crockery and cutlery storage space. At the other end, past the AGA and island work bench, a double Belfast sink makes pan washing almost a pleasure, with those beautiful estuary views through the kitchen window. A coffee machine, and everything you would expect to find in a kitchen of this standard. Around the corner – the American Fridge freezer and walk in pantry, next to the breakfast bar (just great for little ones to sit and enjoy their meals).

Off the kitchen –a well equipped the laundry room – (an extra fridge in here too). Dogs love the flower room – originally designed for flower arranging – now a great place for dogs to dry off after their walks, with direct access to the courtyard and cosy- warm next to the boiler room.

Completing the picture downstairs – the dining room – amazing views up and down the estuary – a fabulous room – elegantly furnished, and seats 12 comfortably.

Upstairs

The stairs turn and divide to lead you to the master bedroom suite – extending down one entire side of the house – a huge bedroom – for a huge bed, where you can wake and watch the tide flow past – (or catch up on the television news). A large dressing room with double vanity unit, leads through to one of the biggest bathrooms you are likely to see, with the biggest bath and rain shower to match! The external door here was installed to afford access straight to the bathroom following that hot and sweaty tennis match!

Children will love the front bedroom – with its twin beds and seaside theme – although the beds are really comfortable for adults too! The built in cupboards hide a wash basin. The children’s bathroom echoes the seaside theme – a bath big enough for four little ones, or one adult to stretch out and relax!

The only bedroom in the house without even a glimpse of the water is the cosy nursery. If you need more than one cot, we can provide a travel cot.

At the top of the stairs you’ll find a shower room and loo– the first of two on the first floor.

Take the other turn on the stairs, past the window seat and into the beautiful ‘green room’, facing the estuary and the rolling Pembrokeshire countryside. This room shares an ensuite bathroom, and has a washbasin secreted in the built in cupboards. There can be few baths in which you can wallow and enjoy such stunning views!

The ‘pink room’ (sharing the bathroom) has a wash basin in the room, and, if needs be, a separate loo, just across the corridor.

Two blue bedrooms complete the picture – both with views of the water, both beautifully comfortable. One has a wash basin; the other is directly opposite the second shower room. This bedroom was originally the servants bedroom, and as such, can separated from the main corridor by an additional door – great for those who want a lie in, without disturbance from the rest of the household!
