The Cabin is a small, very handy pied a terre right in the centre of Salcombe. It is within very easy walking distance of the shops, restaurants, bars, ferries and yacht and dinghy pontoons. There is a small car park very nearby (Whitestrand) which although short-term, is very convenient for loading and unloading your belongings. There is a larger, long-term car park a short distance away, also within easy walking distance and there you can also leave and launch a boat if you decide to bring one.
The Cabin is nautically-themed, so you have a feeling of being near the sea as soon as you arrive. However, it is set back a little from the main thoroughfare which makes it a quiet spot to be. Although it does not have sea or estuary views, you only have to walk a few steps to be right by the water.
Salcombe is a lovely place for a seaside holiday and is particularly popular with the yachting fraternity and indeed, anyone keen on watersports. There are beautiful sandy beaches both across the water (by passenger ferry) at East Portlemouth and down the estuary at South and North Sands. There is a passenger ferry from the town centre (very near The Cabin) to South Sands.
There are golf and tennis facilities available in the nearby village of Thurlestone. (Thurlestone Golf Club, which not only has a good course, but also 12 tennis courts).
Salcombe has a tangibly relaxed atmosphere - you can wander around the centre without much worry and what traffic there is proceeds at walking pace (as does the pace of life). The town has many specialist shops - antiques, art, chandleries, clothing, pottery, the Salcombe Gin distillery, and of course there are some excellent eating places, several of which afford wonderful views of the estuary. There are also boat specialists who can help if you bring a boat and need spares or assistance.
