Stonechats is a bright and beautifully furnished lower ground-floor apartment in Woolacombe, offering a peaceful base just a short walk from one of North Devon’s best-loved beaches. Designed with couples and small families in mind, this self-contained retreat blends the comfort of home with the freedom of self-catering. It’s part of Lundy House, tucked into the hillside just above the village, and makes the most of its elevated position with countryside views and a real sense of seclusion. Inside, the open-plan space is light and well laid out, with a super kingsize TEMPUR bed, stylish lounge area and compact yet practical kitchenette. You’ll also have your own bathroom and private parking, and dogs are welcome too. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic weekend, beach holiday or a longer break, Stonechats offers comfort, calm and flexibility in equal measure.
The apartment’s setting offers the best of both worlds: peaceful and tucked away, yet just a short stroll down the hill to the village centre. In Woolacombe, you’ll find surf shops, independent cafés, family-friendly pubs and plenty of options for eating out, or you can book yourself in for breakfast at the hotel upstairs if you fancy an easy start to the day. Woolacombe Beach itself is world famous for its soft sand and clean surf, stretching for miles along the coast and offering safe swimming, great surf lessons, and plenty of room to spread out. Paddleboard in the bay, let the dog run on the sand, or simply stretch out with a book while the tide comes in. The beach is backed by dunes and low cliffs, with access to a wide network of walking trails for those who like to explore on foot.
When you’re ready to roam, there’s no shortage of things to do in the area. The South West Coast Path passes nearby, offering clifftop walks with unforgettable views over Baggy Point, Morte Point and Lundy Island. For a more leisurely pace, visit the nearby village of Mortehoe with its charming tearooms and heritage centre, or head to Ilfracombe for boat trips, galleries and quirky shops. Families will love The Big Sheep and Combe Martin Wildlife Park, while walkers and nature lovers can venture inland to explore Exmoor National Park. For beach hopping, head round the headland to Putsborough or venture further to Croyde and Saunton Sands. However you spend your days, you’ll find Stonechats a welcoming and restorative place to return to — peaceful, well-equipped, and perfectly placed for discovering this unforgettable stretch of the North Devon coast.
