Skylark sits in a sublime spot within the South Downs National Park. Owned by the Seven Sisters Country park and managed by Cuckmere Cottages, your stay will contribute to the upkeep of this iconic part of the National Park. Located near Seaford, a mile inside an area protected from traffic (there is a tarmac path and a car service to help with your luggage on arrival and departure), it's blissfully peaceful without being remote or cut off from things to see and places to visit. Skylark is a historic farm cottage brimming with charm and comfort. It's a place where you can relax in the garden in the late evening sunshine or snuggle in front of the open fire, shutting out anything unimportant and letting you enjoy precious time with family and friends. It's one of only three Cuckmere Cottages, sleeping five people in three bedrooms. The house is beautifully decorated to provide modern comforts while fitting seamlessly into the rural surroundings.
Seaford, a charming coastal village on the eastern edge of the South Downs National Park, offers an idyllic base for outdoor enthusiasts. With the South Downs Way, the breathtaking Seven Sisters Cliffs, and the tranquil beauty of Cuckmere Haven just steps away, this location is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. So, grab your favourite walking boots and get ready to explore! Although tucked away in a peaceful setting, it’s surprisingly accessible. Whether you drive to the collection point, hop on a train from London to Eastbourne or Seaford, or a direct bus from Brighton, you’ll find yourself here in no time.
The Seven Sisters Country Park isn’t just stunning by day; it transforms at night into one of only 21 International Dark Sky Reserves. Prepare to be amazed by the brilliance of the stars – a rare treat in the south-east of England and just one of the many things that make Redshank such a memorable retreat. There’s no shortage of outdoor adventures either. You can kayak along the Cuckmere River, try paddleboarding, explore the area by bike, or even go horse riding or take a boat trip. For a change of pace, spend a day shopping or sightseeing in vibrant Brighton, or catch a show in the Victorian seaside town of Eastbourne. Don’t forget to visit the nearby Rathfinny Vineyard or the historic Clergy House in Alfriston for a taste of the local culture.
With guests praising Cuckmere Cottages as "exceptional" and the location as "completely immersed in nature", this is a destination not to be missed.
