About Upper House

Upper House lies in the heart of the South Downs National Park, between Guildford and Portsmouth and is very convenient for the A3. This spacious holiday home was designed as a country retreat from city life. It's only an hour from London, yet the peaceful surroundings and rural views are a world away from the noise and bustle of the capital. You'll love it if you want a relaxing self-catering break with family and friends, enjoying substantial living areas, beautifully landscaped gardens, and space to sleep up to 16 people in six bedrooms and four sofa beds. The house is also perfect for visitors to country weddings as it is three miles from the Petersfield, ten miles from Portsmouth, and 15 miles from Haselmere.

Petersfield is a picturesque Hampshire market town, settled in the 11th Century by the Normans with a church dating back to 1120. The twice-weekly markets (Wednesday and Saturday) and monthly Farmers Market (first Sunday) are the perfect places to buy food and drink for your self-catering stay. There's a good choice of places to dine out when you don't want to cook, two specialist museums, and independent shops. The Petersfield Music Festival takes place over a week in March. The event is one of the oldest of its kind in England, first taking place in 1901.

Upper House is close to beautiful walks like the South Downs Way. The route is multi-purpose and accessible to cyclists and horse riders who use it to explore 105 miles between Winchester and Eastbourne. If you enjoy mountain biking, you'll appreciate being close to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park trails. Both kinds of horsepower are celebrated at Goodwood with horse racing, the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, and a calendar of other exciting events, including the Goodwood Revival.

There's no need to put off planning your escape with this fantastic holiday home waiting for you. Stunningly beautiful and perfectly peaceful and with no pets or smoking allowed, it's ideal for guests with allergies wanting a tranquil break with family or friends.

Accommodation Comprises:

Upper House is a spacious property with accommodation over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Your eye is drawn upwards in the living area with its galleried ceiling, pitch pine beams, and stylish lighting track made from repurposed vintage cast iron bogeys. There is seating for everyone, a large flatscreen TV, and an open fire.
  • Cooking becomes a social event in the large kitchen/diner. It's relaxed enough for family cooking yet so well-equipped that external caterers can step in and feed everyone without you having to lift a finger.
  • There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor. Warm shades and a comfortable double bed make the Artists Room perfect for one or two guests, whilst guests staying in the Red Room will enjoy it's carved double bed. The two bedrooms share a large bathroom.

Upstairs:

  • Space and natural light are two key features in the split-level master suite furnished with a king-sized bed, dressing room and seating area. The ensuite has a bath and a shower.
  • When not used as an extra living area the Mezzanine makes a fantastic extra bedroom. It has two single sofa beds and south-facing windows that frame the best views in the house.
  • The Library is another flexible room with two single sofa beds, an open fireplace, and shelves stuffed with books.
  • The Writers Suite suits children and teenagers. There are two rooms, one with bunks and the other with two single beds, separated by a shower room.

Outside: Huge gardens include plenty of space for eating, playing and relaxing.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
