About Townfoot Barn

Townfoot Barn sleeps two guests in one gorgeous kingsize bedroom in the secluded village of Troutbeck in the heart of the Lake District National Park. This fabulous five star detached romantic retreat oozes character and charm, which is perfectly blended with modern day luxuries to ensure a high degree of comfort. Guests also have access to a spa, sauna, swimming pool and gym which is included in the cost of the holiday.

Superbly located and nestling in the picturesque Troutbeck Valley, the barn is just a short walk from the shores of Lake Windermere. Tucked away from the crowds in an oasis of calm, the barn is perfectly sandwiched between the towns of Windermere and Ambleside and only a short drive to the many amenities and attractions these two popular Cumbrian towns have to offer.

Every bit as fabulous inside as out, Townfoot Barn is an excellent choice for couples looking for a peaceful romantic retreat. Downstairs, the stylish contemporary kitchen is a lovely spot to rustle up a feast, whilst upstairs you can enjoy the fantastic views from the cosy living area before retiring to the romantic bedroom. Step out of bed into the delightful patio garden where you can walk straight onto a network of footpaths.

The surrounding area is a walker's paradise. Stroll down to the shore of Lake Windermere or explore one of the footpaths leading straight out from the garden onto Wansfell. Wander into Troutbeck and marvel at the beautiful architecture, pick up some groceries at the village store, enjoy lunch at The Mortal Man (serving excellent food!), or tea and cake at the tea rooms.

Alternatively, jump in the car and discover the beauty of the stunning Lakeland scenery with dramatic fells, glorious green valleys, majestic lakes, and pretty woodland bursting into life in the warmer months, colourful in the autumn and quite simply magical when sparkling in the winter.

Accommodation and facilities comprise:

Ground level

  • Contemporary kitchen with granite worktops, grey porcelian floor tiles, an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a dining table for two and a window with a beautiful view of Troutbeck valley.
  • Useful cloakroom with a Bosch washer/drier.

First floor level

  • Living room with a comfy sofa and armchair, Sony HDTV, Bluetooth, Blu-ray player and stunning views over the valley.
  • Cosy bedroom with a king bed. The combination of the designer lighting and solid oak furniture gives this room a classic yet contemporary feel. Balcony door leads to the patio garden.
  • Ensuite bathroom with a monsoon shower over a bath, WC and handbasin.

Outside: Step out of your bedroom into the small patio garden where you can listen to the waterfall (which can dry out if the fells have not been wet enough) as you drink your morning coffee or evening sundowner. There is also a second patio area at the opposite end of the Barn, with outdoor furniture, a charcoal BBQ and a great valley views. Private off road parking with a 7kW EV electric car charging unit.

Additional information: WiFi, electricity and heating (eco-friendly biomass) are included in the price as well as towels and bed linen. Dogs are welcome. EV charging costs applicable. A breakfast basket is provided, including: corn-flakes, granola, brown bread, white bread, conserves, butter, tea, Nespresso coffee pods, milk and sugar.
