Pepper Cottage sleeps four guests and provides a high degree of comfort, perfectly blending together the charm and tranquility of a country setting with stylish bang up-to-date facilities. Spend your days exploring the Southern Lakes then return home to this oasis of calm with everything provided to immediately relax and unwind including two fabulous shower/bathrooms with waterfall showers (plus a free standing bath in one!), modern kitchen with mountain views and white units topped with granite, and a large television for snuggling up and watching your favourite movie in front of the log burner.
Perfectly sandwiched between the pretty village of Hawkshead and Ambleside, Pepper Cottage sits in the tiny hamlet of Knipefold with superb walking and cycling from the front door and magnificent views over the rolling valley. The renown Drunken Duck Inn with its fine ales and excellent food is just a mile away (make sure you book in advance as it is exceptionally popular), and slightly closer is The Outgate Inn serving hearty pub food and a good pint. You also have the choice of four other pubs in Hawkshead so no shortage of places to enjoy a meal out!
The area offers an abundance of attractions. Coniston Water is a short drive away offering a host of water-based activities, as well as 'The Old Man' for those up for the challenge. Esthwaite Water, close to Hawkshead may be one of the areas smaller lakes but it offers excellent opportunities for fishing. And for mountain bikers (and walkers), Grizedale Forest is a must (you can park at High Cross just a mile from the cottage or the main visitors centre five miles away) with superb tracks and trails with sculptures along the way and a cafe (dog-friendly) for when you are needing refreshments. There is also a Go-Ape at the forest for a tree top adventure.
Should you get an inclement day, head to Ambleside and browse the shops, take in a film at the Cinema or have some indoor activity on the climbing wall. Visit Muncaster's haunted Castle with the Hawk and Owl Centre, the Beatrix Potter Gallery in Hawkshead or Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's farmhouse where you can step back in time and follow in the writers footsteps. The Lakeland Motor Museum is another good attraction to visit at Backbarrow with an impressive 30,000 vehicles, from bikes to classic cars.
Whether you simply want to relax, lace up your walking boots and hike the hills or discover the beauty of the area and its many attractions, Pepper Cottage provides a warm welcome at any time of the year.
